As The World Turns cancelled!!

CBS has decided to kill another long-running soap opera. This year it was Guiding Light. Next is As The World Turns.

AS THE WORLD TURNS: CANCELED
It's a tragic day for soap operas. After nearly 54 years on the air, word comes that ATWT will follow its sister-soap GUIDING LIGHT gently into the good night. "We are disappointed and saddened by the news that the show is not being renewed. It will certainly be a loss for all of us, and for the show's loyal audience," said executive producer Chris Goutman in a statement. The show will last air in September of 2010.


BAD news for soap operas. They are getting cancelled one by one. How long before B&B gets cancelled??

WHAT!!!!!!! I thought ATWT was doing ok as far as ratings. This is awful. Sept 2010 is a long way away. Maybe viewers can save the show. First GL...I had not watched in many years but was sad to see it go, now ATWT...which I still watch...not faithfully, but still....no more Bob and Kim, I can't imagine.

ATWT finishes up taping in June, just a few weeks ahead, and last airdate is in September. The show will be replaced by a talk show.

ATWT is over and done. I must say it went out with a whimper, much as GL did.
