Information on Patrick Duffy
Patrick Duffy plays Stephen Logan, the long-estranged father of Brooke Logan, on The Bold and the Beautiful.
Duffy's first major role was in the television series "Man From Atlantis." In 1978, he began playing Bobby Ewing in "Dallas," a role he would star in for 13 seasons on the Network. Following "Dallas," Duffy starred for seven seasons in the series "Step by Step."
Raised in a small town in Montana, Duffy moved to Seattle as a teenager, and became interested in acting. He began studying in the Professional Actors Training Program at the University of Washington, in a four-year program that encompassed works from medieval to modern with the obvious emphasis on Shakespeare.
Upon graduation, Duffy was hired as Artist-in-Residence for the state of Washington, where he performed in symphonies, operas and ballet companies, and also where he met his wife, Carlyn, a ballet dancer with the First Chamber Dance Company of New York.
After leaving Washington, Duffy moved to New York, where he performed in an Off-Broadway production of William Inges' play, "Natural Affection," before heading to Hollywood and spending a season with the San Diego Old Globe Shakespeare Company. Following a guest appearance with Julie Harris in "The Last of Mrs. Lincoln" for PBS, he was cast in The Man From Atlantis. One week after that show was cancelled, he was cast on Dallas, in 1978.
While on Dallas, Duffy began his directing career by completing 30 episodes of that series and going on to direct episodes of Step by Step. He produced the final television movie of Dallas with Larry Hagman and made his debut in London on the West End in Yasmina Reza's ART. His additional television credits include the series "Touched By an Angel," the special "Dallas Reunion: Return To Southfork," "Reba," and the television movies "Heart of Fire" and "Falling in Love With the Girl Next Door."
Duffy and his wife have two children and split their time between their home in Los Angeles and their ranch in Oregon.
