Hi there! I watched the first semi final last Tuesday. And I was totally blown away by Malta! OMG she has a powerfull beautiful voice and she looks awesome! I also liked Iceland very much. Portugal and Turkey were very nice too.... Sweden shouldn't have made it through....I didn't like the song also, Cathy and I think the singer looks like a witch from out of space...but hey...looks don't matter in Eurovision land ;D The Netherlands are up tonight, as the last act.... I feel emberassment coming up already.... Our song is so camp and tacky.... I can't help but.....LOVE it! ;D ;D Don't think we'll make it through though...again

I actually like Sweden's song and am glad it made the final. However, I don't think we´ll end up in any good position. I think Norway will have a good chance of winning even though I hate the song. It's the "I'm in love with a fairytale" song. I just do not like it, but I keep hearing how much of a favorite it is to win. The ones I liked most after a quick half-listening to (I think) all of them are; Albania Azerbajdzjan Bosnia Croatia Estonia Finland Germany Greece Iceland Israel Montenegro Russia Turkey Ukraine And of course Sweden.... So if any of those wins, I'd be okay with it. But if some other country wins, I'll be disappointed like always.................... Worst, IMO, were... Serbia Czech Republic Latvia Netherlands Armenia Hungary Portugal Slovakia And then there were some snoozepills that I can hardly remember, like France. Aside from Sweden, I´m rooting for Albania this year, I think it was a fairly good song and tough to sing it, and that 16 year old girl did a good job.

Not the singing, but having the red army portrayed on stage and a war-aircraft. What the heck?!?! Don't Russia want to wash away that image everyone have of them as war-maniacs? If Germany wins tonight they can have Luftwaffe and nazis on stage next year. Or the UK can have their army and planes if they win. Geez!!! Bad taste, Russia.

Bad taste, Russia. wow, those are strong words where was the war aircraft? I don't remember seeing one... I only saw very little, and anyway let's not blow this out of proportion. I'm not saying it was ok but the army choir is not an instrument for intimidating, or prooving anything to anyone. It's just a cultural thing for them to sing, and I enjoyed listening to the songs and watching nice dances and traditional costumes. If they had that preoccupation regarding their image as 'war-maniacs' promoting it or not - honestly, I think this song contest would be the last of their worries. They've proved it before that they didn't give a damn about the whole world's oppinion. please don't think I'm trying to exculpate them here, hell - I come from an ex-socialist country! ;D - still, I can sit and enjoy a nice song whenever I hear it without political matters imediatly coming to my mind.

It was hard not to think of politics when they brought a war-plane onto the stage like it was their most cherished posession. I liked the singing. Especially Kalinka. But I thought it was very stupid to bring a war-plane on stage. The last part I said in my post above was meant as sarcasm. About the nazis and other warriors. And that the choir was named the Red Army Choir was IMO in quite bad taste since the red army was just as bad as the nazi army in the 2nd world war. So it would be exactly like Germany having a military chior named the Nazi Army Choir. I am not angry about that, I just think it's in poor taste. However, the musicians were very good and talented. Loved how they sang along with Tatu. Pst, the war-plane is closed-up at 7.26 in this clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCZNfeWGTkQAnother thing.... One thing that really upset me during ESC was the fact that Moscow police stopped the gay-parade that was supposed to take place in town. They arrested several people who was in the parade. It's that frowned upon to be gay in Russia. That's just one thing I cannot overlook. How dare them arrest people for being open about their sexuality? Sweden's contestant Malena Ernman protested about that which I am glad for. She would have left Moscow and the competition if she was only competing for herself, but stayed because she was representing Sweden and couldn't let people down. I think it's quite ironic that Russia promoted Tatu twice in the ESC because Tatu has always been halfways promoted as lesbians. And at the same time they stop the gay-parade in town because they don't want gay people to be opened about their sexuality. That is just dumb!!!
