Monday, December 1st
Donna asked Eric to explain why he was so upset with her. Eric said he had to let her go and move on with his life. As he spoke, he had flashbacks of the people he believed to be Donna and Owen making love in Owen's office.
Donna told Eric that he had insinuated to Donna that he planned to choose her. Donna asked what happened between morning and noontime to change his mind. Eric said he could not ignore what was right in front of his face. Eric said he planned to go back to Stephanie and leave Donna behind. Donna begged to know the reason, but Eric refused to tell her what he had seen on the hidden camera.
Thorne called Stephanie and informed her that Eric was about to make his decision. He urged her to go to the Forrester office. Stephanie declined; she said she thought it was best for her to just continue packing. Thorne insisted that Stephanie should come to the office. Stephanie said if Eric made the choice she hoped he would make, he would be home soon enough. Thorne told Stephanie to go to Forrester immediately, and hung up.
Brooke shared the good news with Katie that Brooke and Ridge planned to get married at the beach. Brooke said she was busy making arrangements and Katie offered to help with the plans. Brooke graciously accepted Katie's offer.
Brooke said all three Logan girls had a reason to be happy; she was going to marry Ridge, Katie had Nick, and she was confident that Donna and Eric were going to reunite. Katie said they would all attend her wedding if that were okay. Brooke said yes. Brooke said although she realized there would be conflicts between Ridge and Rick; Donna and Stephanie; and others, she wanted her whole family at her wedding. Brooke said when she was at the altar, all she would feel was joy, and she refused to let any family infighting ruin her special day.
Donna arrived and shared the news with her sisters that Eric had ended their marriage and gone back to Stephanie. Brooke asked if Eric gave her any indication of why he had changed his mind. Donna said no; she had been certain that Eric wanted their marriage and planned to choose her, but then he chose Stephanie. Katie asked if it had anything to do with Owen. Donna said Eric was the one who hired Owen back-that she had not wanted anything to do with Owen. Donna said everything about Eric had changed overnight; the way he looked at her and the expression on his face indicated something had changed. But she did not know why.
Felicia and Ridge arrived at home to discover Stephanie had not moved out yet. Felicia asked Ridge to talk to Eric about reconciling with their mother. Ridge said he had tried. Felicia asked Ridge to try again, and suggested he not mention Rick or the business. She said Ridge should leave his ego at the door and just talk to Eric about reuniting with their mother.
Thorne called Ridge and Felicia and said they should get down to Forrester Creations immediately, and that something big was brewing that they would not want to miss.
Thorne found Donna sobbing in her office. He asked her what was wrong. Donna said Eric had made his decision and that he had not chosen her. Thorne said Donna had to know that someone was bound to get hurt. Donna said she did, but she had not expected it would be her. She said Eric had wanted her and she did not understand what happened. Donna said Eric had even hired Owen, so she assumed he had gotten over the kiss he witnessed between Owen and Donna. Thorne said perhaps Eric only hired Owen as a test. Donna said she had not failed any tests because nothing had happened between her and Owen.
Stephanie arrived to see Eric and said she just wanted to tell him she loved him. Eric asked her if she intended to ask him to change his mind. Stephanie said she would if she thought it would change anything, but she knew it wouldn't. Stephanie said when Eric almost died, she realized how valuable his life was to her, whether or not they were together as a couple. Eric said she was amazing and Stephanie said the compliments were unnecessary. Eric said it was very necessary.
Eric said he had let Stephanie down many times. Stephanie said they had come through for one another quite often, too. Stephanie said they had done the best they could for one another and their family. Eric said he could do better, and that the two of them could do better. Eric said it was not over for the two of them. Stephanie looked puzzled because she believed Eric had chosen Donna. Eric said they had the rest of their lives to get it right, if only Stephanie would take him back. She took his face in her hands and kissed him passionately. As they embraced, her eyes shone with hope and love.
Stephanie said she thought Eric had chosen Donna. Eric said Stephanie had been right all along about Donna, and he had been selfish. Stephanie said she was always right and the two of them shared a laugh and a kiss.
Felicia, Thorne, and Ridge hovered in the hallway and listened at the door for any sign of what was going on in Eric's office. Felicia could not wait any longer and burst in to ask what was going on. Eric and Stephanie shared the happy news with their kids that they were reconciling.
Eric explained that when he awoke from his coma and saw Stephanie beside him, he realized what a lucky man he was. He said Stephanie's faithfulness and commitment to him was the most important thing in his life. Ridge said it was great to see the two of them so happy.
Thorne pulled Eric aside and asked him if he was really okay with it. Eric said he was okay, but it was clear he wasn't as happy as he pretended to be in front of the family. Thorne reminded Eric of why it had happened. Eric said he remembered full well; Donna had betrayed him and that was why he had to end their marriage. Eric told Thorne he never wanted to speak of it again.
Stephanie asked Thorne if he had a hand in her reunion with Eric. Thorne said he knew Eric valued her and his family, so he challenged Eric to consider them. Thorne said Eric and Stephanie had to work to bring Ridge back into the fold at Forrester, because that was where Ridge belonged. The family began talking about plans for Christmas, eggnog, and music. Stephanie marveled that a few weeks earlier, it seemed unthinkable that they would all be spending the holidays together.
Eric walked into a quiet corner of the office and thought about Donna. He was unable to understand how she could have betrayed him.
Across town, Donna went to a quiet corner and vowed to find out what had happened, because she knew Eric still loved her. Donna knew there was more to Eric's decision than what met the eye.

Tuesday, December 2nd
Phoebe went home for her father's wedding and surprised Taylor with her arrival. She informed Taylor that she had taken a break from her concert tour with Constantine. Phoebe commented that it would be easier to be home now that Rick had moved out. Phoebe reminded her mother about her hurt over her mother's relationship with Rick. She further stated it was the reason why she had been away from home for so long. Taylor responded that she had not realized how horribly she had hurt her daughter by having a relationship with Rick. Phoebe reminded her mom that Rick was her first love and that was why it had hurt so much.
Later in the day, Phoebe called her father and announced that she was home for his wedding to Brooke. Brooke overheard Ridge's part of the telephone conversation. When the conversation was done, Brooke commented that all of Ridge's children would be present at their wedding. Ridge then finally agreed to allow Brooke to invite her son Rick to their wedding.
A short while after the wedding discussion was done, Ridge went to Taylor's house to visit with Phoebe. He noticed the barrette in her hair that he had purchased for her in Sydney, Australia. Phoebe told her father that she understood why he was so protective of her when she was with Rick. Phoebe also said that she had written a song for him and wanted to sing it at his wedding dinner. While alone with Taylor, he informed her that he and Brooke planned to remarry the following day. Taylor declined Ridge's invitation to attend his wedding. He remarked that he would always love her. Ridge made Taylor promise that she would move on with her life.
At his office at Forrester Creations corporate headquarters, Rick focused his thoughts on his unhappiness over Ridge and Brooke's marriage. Rick thought to himself that he would somehow stop their wedding from happening.
His thoughts were interrupted when Brooke arrived at his office and proceeded to invite him to her wedding. Rick stubbornly told Brooke that he could not support her marriage to Ridge. Brooke made a pitch to Rick from her heart. She told Rick she wished she had been a better mother to him. She commented that she and Ridge were ready, committed, and raising a family together, which she wanted Rick to be a part of. She told Rick she would miss him at her rehearsal and at her wedding. She told Rick she needed him to be at her wedding because she loved her son. Rick said he was touched by Brooke's plea for him to attend her wedding. He told her that she had been a great mother and that he loved her. He broke down and agreed to attend his mother's wedding to Ridge.

Wednesday, December 3rd
Ridge asked Brooke what she was doing and she said she was working on her wedding vows. Ridge and Brooke discussed how happy they were that all of their kids would be attending their wedding on Malibu. Ridge said they had been waiting a long time to get married again and this time it would be forever. Brooke agreed that this time it would last forever.
Phoebe stumbled upon Rick hitting on a model and rolled her eyes when she heard the cheesy lines he was using. She bypassed Rick's office and stopped in to see her grandparents. Phoebe said she was sorry she had not been able to get home while Eric was sick. Phoebe said she could not have borne to see him that way. Eric said she no longer had to see him sick because he was fine. Phoebe said it was great to see him happy and to see her grandparents back together.
Phoebe asked what the deal was with Rick being president of Forrester. She said she was sorry he had an accident, but that didn't mean he should have been promoted above her dad, Ridge. Eric said that Rick and Ridge would eventually patch up their differences, and then Ridge would be back at Forrester where he belonged.
Phoebe asked how much longer it would be until her dad has his job back. Eric said he thought Phoebe would be happy for Rick's success. Au contraire, Phoebe said she had no reason to be happy for Rick. Phoebe said Rick didn't deserve that job, but Ridge did. Stephanie said that was something she and Phoebe agreed on. Stephanie said it was one thing to level the playing field between Rick and Ridge, and another thing to let Rick manipulate the situation.
Steffy arrived home to find her sister twin Phoebe (apparently no longer her identical twin) and the two embraced. Steffy asked Phoebe what she thought about Rick being the new president at Forrester. Phoebe said it was awful. Steffy informed Phoebe that Ridge had not attacked Rick when Rick was injured. Steffy said Rick attacked Ridge and Ridge had merely defended himself. Steffy said that Rick lied to everyone and blamed Ridge. Steffy said that even though she wanted Ridge and Taylor to reunite, the lengths to which Rick had gone to stop Brooke from marrying Ridge were sick. Steffy told Phoebe that Rick had done something to her, too.
Steffy said that Rick had kissed her and Phoebe was furious. Phoebe said Rick had been her first love, and he was still breaking her heart. Steffy said the kiss didn't mean anything; Rick was just trying to use her to get to Ridge. Even so, Steffy was disgusted by Rick's actions.
Ridge stopped by Rick's office and thanked him for agreeing to come to the wedding. Rick said he was welcome. Ridge told him to get all of his junk out of Ridge's office because he had work to do. Rick look stunned. Ridge said he was just kidding. Rick said he didn't believe that Ridge was kidding. Rick said Ridge was just mad that Rick beat him for once. Ridge said it wasn't a competition.
Rick said he had done everything just to protect Brooke from Ridge. Ridge said Brooke did not need protection from him. Rick said when he dated Phoebe, Ridge had intervened under the guise of protecting his daughter. Rick said Ridge should certainly understand that Rick was doing the exact same thing for his mom. Ridge said it was different because Phoebe was an innocent young girl, while Ridge and Brooke had been in love for decades.
Ridge said for Brooke's sake, he had come to bury the hatchet and asked Rick if he was willing to do that, also. Rick looked wary. Rick asked him to repeat himself and asked if Ridge wanted to bury the hatchet in his back. Ridge said he had come to offer an olive branch. Rick said no thank you. Ridge said it wasn't about trying to be tough-- it was about wisdom, understanding, and the ability to forgive. Rick asked Ridge if he had taken a spirituality course in his time off.
Ridge said Rick had taken his office and his job, but there was a bigger issue between them: Brooke. Ridge said they had to work together to keep Brooke happy. Ridge asked Rick to stand up with him at the wedding and be his best man. Rick said Ridge was out of his damned mind. Ridge said he was serious. He said it would make Brooke and Eric both very happy to see Ridge and Rick standing up at the altar side by side. Ridge described the first wedding between him and Brooke at Malibu. Ridge said Rick was too young to remember, but he told Rick about how beautiful it was and how happy Brooke had been. Ridge said they had an opportunity to give a great gift to the woman they both loved. Ridge said it would be a gift Brooke would carry with her for the rest of her life. He put his hand out and asked Rick to shake his hand and agree to be his best man.
Brooke went to see Stephanie and said she had made a decision. Brooke said that although she realized Stephanie wanted Ridge to marry Taylor, Ridge was planning to marry Brooke instead. Brooke said she and Stephanie had to learn to coexist. Stephanie said it wasn't about the two of them; it was about Rick and Ridge fighting all the time. Stephanie said the day would come when Brooke had to make a choice to support her husband over her son. Brooke said she loved Ridge, but she would not make an unconditional commitment to take Ridge's side over Rick's.
Stephanie said if Brooke thought Rick would not put her in the middle of a battle between him and Ridge again, she was naïve. Brooke said Rick planned to attend the wedding and would support her marriage to Ridge. Stephanie said that would only last one day. Stephanie explained to Brooke that Rick had let the power of being president at Forrester go to his head and had stepped on peoples' toes. Stephanie said Brooke had supported Rick in his bid for power above Ridge. She reminded Brooke that part of the wedding vows Brooke planned to take included a line about loving Ridge enough to forsake all others, and that included Rick.
Brooke asked Stephanie to attend the wedding. Stephanie said that Donna would be there. Brooke said Donna would not attend because she didn't want to face Eric. Stephanie reluctantly agreed to attend the wedding. Brooke was thrilled and the two women embraced.

Thursday, December 4th
Brooke and Ridge got ready for their red carpet rehearsal dinner party. Ridge got out of the shower and told Brooke how beautiful she was. She wore a stunning silver gown. She commented on how happy she was and that nothing could go wrong. Ridge wanted to peel off her dress, but she warned him they had a very important dinner to attend. Ridge told her that he had asked Rick to be his best man. Brooke was thrilled, but Ridge said Rick turned him down. Brooke said she was touched that Ridge made the gesture. Ridge also said he gave Rick a pep talk, but warned Brooke not to get her hopes up. Ridge admitted he was still bitter about what Rick did to Phoebe. Ridge quickly changed the subject and told Brooke that she still took his breath away after all the years that had passed. They kissed passionately.
At Taylor's, Steffy told Phoebe to stop talking about Rick. Phoebe was agitated and said that she regretted her involvement with Rick. Phoebe was bitter that Rick had been her first love. Then, he slept with her mother, and tried to make moves on Steffy. Phoebe angrily said Rick was sick. Taylor came in and interrupted the twins. Phoebe ranted that everything their family had been through was because of Rick. Taylor apologized for hurting Phoebe, and Phoebe claimed Rick had taken advantage of the entire family. Steffy said Rick was only out for revenge, and suggested that they all forget about him. Taylor agreed and told the girls that they looked beautiful and should hurry off to the engagement party. Steffy invited her mom, but Taylor refused. Phoebe said she would come home early for ice cream, and hugged her mom. She gave Taylor a necklace that a gypsy claimed would ward off evil spirits. Taylor was thankful. Phoebe lingered a few more moments, gave her mom a long hug, and, before she went out the door, said that she loved her.
At Forrester, Rick sat at his desk staring at the front-page photo of Rick and Brooke on the cover of Eye on Fashion magazine. Phoebe walked into the office and told Rick that he had a lot of nerve being in her father's office. She was furious with Rick for getting involved with her mother and kissing Steffy. Phoebe accused Rick of using all of them to get back at her dad. She said it made her sick that she had made such a major mistake by loving him. Rick apologized, but Phoebe continued to rant that he went after her mother and sister. Rick apologized again, but said he had to leave for a party. He didn't want to talk to her because it would only make things worse. He left.
Taylor moped at home alone when the doorbell rang and Stephanie arrived. Stephanie told Taylor that she knew how difficult it must have been for her to hear that Ridge was marrying Brooke again. They embraced. Stephanie presented Taylor with a photograph of the family. Taylor said she wished she had never gotten involved with Rick because the family would have never gone through such tough times. Taylor regretted damaging her relationship with Phoebe, and Stephanie said Taylor must have been very grateful that Phoebe had returned home.
At the Forrester mansion, Bridget checked in with the caterer as the engagement party commenced. Bridget watched as Katie and Nick entered. Next, Beth and Stephen showed up, and Eric welcomed them. Eric told Beth how beautiful she was. Beth commented on how she really believed the marriage between Brooke and Ridge would take this time. They all agreed to drink to the possibility.
Jackie came in and talked with Nick and Katie. Nick said that Bridget had thrown a very nice party, and Katie looked upset. Jackie quickly noted that Katie also threw a wonderful party, and Nick agreed that Jack's birthday party was a success. Katie said she wished they could see more of Jack because she missed him. Jackie and Nick looked nervous.
Everyone wondered where Phoebe was, and Steffy said Phoebe had to make a stop on her way to the party. Thomas and Steffy danced and discussed Taylor's refusal to attend the party. Everyone danced and Brooke and Ridge took a break, but Brooke said she didn't want to stop because she was so happy. Thorne danced with Jackie. Thomas wanted Steffy to dance some more, but the photographer interrupted in order to get a photo of Steffy on the red carpet outside. While she was fixing her dress, Steffy asked the photographer to hurry since she was alone at the party and didn't want her picture taken alone. Marcus came out of the shadows wearing a tuxedo, and told her he couldn't believe she was all alone. They kissed and excitedly talked about how much they missed each other since he had been transferred to Paris. Marcus said he didn't think Forrester International knew he was going to Paris because he had nothing to do. Steffy explained that the transfer was just to get him out of the way so that Rick could mess with the company and hit on Steffy. Marcus looked angry, but Steffy told him he could deal with Rick later. She wanted him all to herself.
Ridge again asked where Phoebe was, and he wondered why Phoebe and Rick still hadn't arrived. Ridge had a photo taken with Thomas and Steffy, and said they'd have another taken when Phoebe arrived.
At the Forrester offices, Rick got into his car and fastened his seatbelt. He started his car, but Phoebe jumped in and ranted at Rick that her father was right about him. Phoebe did not put on her seat belt and got in Rick's face while he was driving. She screamed that Rick used her to get back at Ridge. She railed at him that he slept with her mother and kissed her sister and humiliated her. She went ballistic and told Rick she hated him. She screamed at him to pull over and slapped him while he was driving. Rick begged her to stop, but she grew angrier as Rick refused to pull over. Then, she grabbed the wheel as Rick fought to keep the car on the road. Phoebe used her foot to access the brake and gas pedals as Rick tried to stop her. Phoebe stepped on the brake and then pressed on the gas pedal as the car accelerated. Rick fought for control of the wheel and the pedals as the car skidded out of control and he screamed, "No!"

Friday, December 5th
Nick spotted Bridget at Ridge and Brooke's engagement party and said she looked amazing. She thanked him, but seemed very uncomfortable in his presence. He asked if she would share a friendly dance with him, but she declined. After Katie walked away, Jackie asked Nick if he had any regrets about ending his relationship with Bridget. Nick said he regretted that he had hurt her. Jackie asked him if that was all he regretted. Nick walked away without answering her question.
Eric asked Katie how Donna was doing. Katie said not well. Eric asked Katie if she would relay his best wishes to Donna. Katie asked Eric if he really thought that would make Donna feel better. Eric asked if Donna was with Owen. Katie replied that Donna had never been with Owen in the past and wondered why Eric would think Donna would be with him then.
Taylor reminded Stephanie that she was late for the party and that if Stephanie didn't attend, Ridge would be angry. Stephanie said Ridge would get over it. Stephanie said she would rather stay with Taylor. Taylor said she was disappointed that Ridge was getting remarried to Brooke. She said she had been naïve enough to believe that she and Ridge had a chance to reconcile. Stephanie reminded her she still had all three of her kids. Taylor said she was happy for that, and knew her kids needed her, especially Phoebe.
Taylor said Phoebe was still very bitter about Taylor's relationship with Rick. Taylor said Phoebe had accused Taylor of using Rick to make Ridge jealous. Stephanie said Phoebe would come around. Stephanie said her real issues were with Rick, not with Taylor. Taylor said Phoebe was coming around. She said Phoebe had apologized for the way she had treated Taylor. Taylor showed Stephanie a gift Phoebe had given her, a necklace that was supposed to ward off evil spirits. Stephanie jokingly said that perhaps it might work on Brooke.
Taylor said she hoped Phoebe would stay away from Rick. Stephanie said she hoped that everyone would stay away from Rick, but told Taylor not to ask her why she said that. Taylor said she was happy Phoebe had come home. Stephanie said Taylor could give Phoebe a little TLC and they could work on healing their relationship. Taylor said she might have lost Ridge, but she was certainly happy she still had Stephanie in her corner.
Steffy froze while she and Marcus were getting a drink at the party. He asked her what was wrong, and she said she had a really weird feeling.
As the rest of the family danced the night away at Ridge and Brooke's engagement party, Phoebe lay motionless in a ravine following the car crash with Rick. Rick remained in the front seat of the car, but was unconscious and covered in blood.
Rick regained consciousness and called out for Phoebe. He attempted to get out of the car, but had to struggle with his seat belt to get loose. When he went to stand up, he saw a large gash on his leg. He pulled himself up and called out Phoebe's name. He saw her lifeless on the ground and frantically tried to get her to wake up.
Ridge and Brooke discussed how perfect the party was going and wished Rick had shown up. Ridge assured Brooke it was still possible; Rick could still get there before the party ended. Brooke said she was happily surprised by Ridge's kinder, gentler attitude towards her son. Ridge said there was nothing Rick could do to ruin their wedding. Ridge said he and Brooke would be married, and the only thing that could stand in their way was perhaps a tsunami at the beach.
Marcus noted that Brooke and Ridge looked very happy. Steffy said she hated to admit it, but Brooke and Ridge looked very happy indeed. Steffy said it was a perfect night. Marcus said it had been perfect except for the news he heard about Rick trying to make a move on Steffy. Steffy said nothing happened and she was sorry she had to tell Marcus about it. Marcus asked if Phoebe knew what had happened. Steffy said yes, she had told her sister directly because she didn't want her to find out from someone else. Steffy said Phoebe was so worked up about it and so upset at Rick that it made Steffy feel frightened for her sister, Phoebe. Steffy said Phoebe should have already arrived at the party and she hoped she would show up soon.
Rick was unable to feel a pulse from Phoebe but when he laid his head on her chest, he heard a heartbeat. He implored Phoebe not to die on him. Rick wanted to call for help, but his cell phone was thrown in the wreckage. He decided to run to his dad's house to try to get help. He placed his suit jacket over Phoebe and said he was going for help and asked her to please not die while he was gone.
As Rick ran to get help, he had flashbacks of when he and Phoebe were in love, and remembered happy moments between the two of them. But then he heard Phoebe's voice in his head repeatedly telling Rick he had ruined her life.
Ridge told Brooke he was worried about Phoebe. Brooke said perhaps Phoebe had decided to stay at home with Taylor. Ridge said no, because Phoebe had specifically mentioned that she wanted to sing a song she wrote for him at Ridge and Brooke's engagement party.
Rick arrived at the Forrester mansion and yelled out for Ridge. Ridge saw Rick all bloody and tried to get him to go inside. Rick said no, Phoebe had been hurt badly and they needed to go and help her immediately. The two of them took off. Ridge and Rick arrived at the accident site. Ridge asked Rick why the ambulance hadn't arrived yet. Phoebe woke up and Ridge assured her everything would be okay. Phoebe said she wanted Ridge to hear her song. Ridge said he wanted to hear it and she could sing it to him after she was better. Phoebe said no, Ridge needed to hear her song right away. She started to sing it very softly but faded out after a few lines. She died in Ridge's arms, and sung to him with her final breath. Ridge let out a mournful scream into the night.

Monday, December 8th
Taylor thanked Stephanie for staying with her during the engagement party. Taylor said she knew that Stephanie realized Taylor would be fighting the temptation to drink. Taylor said she struggled with temptation to drink every day, and that her alcoholism hurt a lot of people. Taylor said it hurt Phoebe most of all, and then, after Taylor stopped drinking, she started dating Rick, which hurt Phoebe even more. Stephanie reassured Taylor that Phoebe loved her and wanted Taylor in her life. Stephanie said whatever problems Taylor and Phoebe had, she was certain they would work them out. Taylor played Stephanie the song Phoebe intended to sing for Ridge at the party. Taylor explained that Phoebe had downloaded it for Taylor before she left the house.
Stephanie assured Taylor that she had done everything she could have for her family. Taylor said it had not been enough, Ridge was still about to remarry Brooke. Stephanie said she would call Eric to let him know she would not be attending the engagement party. Taylor insisted that Stephanie go ahead to the party. Taylor said she would be fine at home alone waiting for the kids. Taylor told Stephanie that she had already made plans to go for ice cream with the kids when they got back.
Steffy collapsed on the dance floor at Brooke and Ridge's engagement party. Marcus caught her before she hit the floor and asked her what was wrong. Eric rushed to Steffy's side and called Bridget over to look at Steffy. Before Bridget got to Steffy, Ridge walked in the door and fell to the floor in heaving sobs. Brooke rushed to his side and asked what was wrong, but he was unable to utter a word.
Steffy and Thomas put their hands on Ridge's shoulder as he continued to weep. He announced that Phoebe was dead, and the entire family cried in disbelief and absolute anguish.
The family continued to hug and cry until Rick arrived, and then everyone froze. Rick, still covered in blood from the accident, staggered over to Ridge and said he was sorry, and that Ridge would never know how sorry he was. Ridge stayed silent and motionless when Rick finished his apology, as if he was trying to process what had been said. Then Ridge flew into a rage. He screamed at Rick and said that Rick was the one driving the car; Phoebe was dead, and all Rick had to say was that he was sorry. Ridge lunged for Rick and started pummeling him. The family pulled Ridge off of Rick and Ridge yelled at them to get Rick out of his sight. The entire family was stunned to discover that Rick had been behind the wheel when Phoebe died. Brooke and Bridget headed off with Rick, while Thomas and Steffy went to comfort their father. Thomas asked how they should break the news to Taylor, and Ridge said there was no good way to tell a mother that her child was dead.
Bridget examined Rick and said he needed to go to a hospital. Rick said he was fine. Bridget suggested he go to get stitches, but he said no. Bridget said she loved him, and left. Rick filled Brooke in on exactly what had happened. Rick said Phoebe had come into his office, and that they had argued. He said he left the office and explained to Phoebe that he had to go to the engagement party. He said Phoebe followed him to the parking lot and got into his car and started yelling at him again. Rick said Phoebe was furious, and that he had never seen her so angry. He said Phoebe started to claw at his face and she also grabbed the steering wheel and attempted to hit the brake, but missed and hit the gas pedal. Rick wept and said it was his fault.
Brooke reassured him that it was an accident and that he was not to blame for Phoebe's death. Brooke said she knew that Rick loved Phoebe and would never do anything to hurt her. Brooke told Rick that he was not responsible for Phoebe's death. Rick asked Brooke if she had seen how Ridge reacted when he discovered that Rick had been behind the wheel. Brooke said Ridge was in shock because he just lost his baby girl. Brooke assured Rick that once Ridge calmed down, they would sit down with him and tell him what really happened.
Stephanie arrived back home and found an empty house. She asked Eric what happened to the party and asked where everyone had gone. Eric explained to her that there had been a terrible accident and that Phoebe had been killed. Stephanie was stunned and couldn't believe what Eric had told her. Stephanie said there must be some mistake. Eric assured her it was true and said Phoebe died in Ridge's arms.
Stephanie overheard Rick and Brooke on the patio and went outside. Stephanie said she wanted Rick to explain to her why he was still alive while Phoebe had died. She asked Rick to help her understand.
Ridge arrived at Taylor's house and found her looking at an old childhood scrapbook of Phoebe's. Taylor asked why Ridge was there and noted that the engagement party could not have ended that soon. Ridge paced around the room uncomfortably, trying to muster the courage to tell Taylor the horrifying news. She asked him several more times to please tell her what was going on. He finally let the words escape his lips and said, "Phoebe was killed tonight." Taylor's hand opened up and Phoebe's lucky necklace fell to the floor.

Tuesday, December 9th
At Taylor's house, Ridge and Steffy grieved over Phoebe. Steffy regretted that she had not been home in time to assist her father with the task of informing her mother about Phoebe's death. Ridge explained that it was his, not Steffy's, responsibility to break the news to her mother. Steffy had also wanted to comfort Taylor, but Ridge asked her not to do so, because Taylor had asked Ridge some time to grieve Phoebe alone.
As they sat on the couch talking about Phoebe, Steffy asked to see her sister's body, which was at the hospital's morgue. When they arrived at the hospital, a member of the morgue's staff met them and turned over Phoebe's personal effects to Ridge. Both Ridge and Steffy became distraught as they reviewed each of Phoebe's possessions. Steffy tearfully remembered a bracelet she had given to her, and Ridge recalled the hair clip that he had purchased for Phoebe in Sydney. Steffy took her scarf, wet it with water, and washed the blood and dirt off her sister's face. She commented how beautiful her twin sister looked. Ridge responded by saying that she would always be beautiful. Steffy then spent time alone with Phoebe. She scolded her sister, because she had refused to ride with her to the party. Steffy realized that a part of her was also dead. She asked her sister to give her some type of sign that she was still with her.
Meanwhile, back at Stephanie's house, Rick spilled his heart to Brooke. He summed up what had happened between Phoebe and him. He commented to Brooke that he had broken Phoebe's heart because of his relationship with Taylor and then he had killed Phoebe. He kept repeating that he should not have allowed Phoebe to ride in his car. He kept rethinking that he should have stayed in the Forrester Creations' parking lot where he could have continued the discussions with Phoebe. He commented to his mother that he had never seen Phoebe so angry and totally out of control. He kept saying that if he had not allowed Phoebe into his car, the accident would not have occurred. Brooke, who was also grieving over the tragic death, tried to assure her son that Phoebe's death was not his fault.
Stephanie then commenced to question Rick in a very hostile fashion about the car accident that killed Phoebe. She could not understand, in such a horrific accident, why Phoebe had died and Rick had survived with only minor injuries. Stephanie pressed Rick about why Phoebe would have asked for a ride in his car. She commented that Phoebe had been very upset with Rick and it did not seem plausible that she would have asked to ride with him. When Rick did not give Stephanie the answer that she was searching for, she became more hostile. Brooke demanded that Stephanie immediately end her interrogation of Rick.
When Stephanie finally left, Brooke defended her son's actions and tried to calm him down. He told her that he felt that Stephanie had accused him of causing the car accident. Rick said he understood what Stephanie was implying. Phoebe and he had an intense argument and she was dead as a result of an auto accident in which he was the driver. Rick again acknowledged that he should not have left the parking lot with Phoebe in his car while she was so angry.
Stephanie went to the morgue to be with Ridge and Phoebe. Ridge described his last moments with Phoebe before she died. Stephanie comforted Ridge that he had been with Phoebe in her last moment and she had not died alone. Ridge could not make sense of his daughter's accident and death. He commented that he had driven the same road a million times and never imagined that Phoebe would die there. Stephanie questioned whether or not it was really an accident.

Stephanie informed Ridge that the police had questions about the accident. She said Lt. Baker stopped by the house to question Rick. Stephanie said that since another car was not involved, the police were curious about the cause of the crash.
Stephanie said the police discovered skid marks all over the road. Ridge asked if Rick was drunk. Stephanie said no, that the police gave Rick a breathalyzer test and there was no alcohol in his system. They just didn't understand why he had lost control of the vehicle and swerved all over the road.
Steffy was in the morgue talking to her deceased sister, Phoebe. She worried that Phoebe's hands felt cold and offered to get her another blanket, but realized that wouldn't help Phoebe. Steffy told Phoebe she hoped that her love would keep Phoebe warm wherever she was, then sobbed uncontrollably. Steffy said she would miss Phoebe's beautiful voice, and told Phoebe that their mother said Phoebe had the voice of an angel and that Phoebe would be up there singing with real angels. Steffy said she could not breathe without Phoebe and didn't know how she would go on with her life. She said she could not do it alone and clung to her sister's sheet-covered corpse and wept until she could not breathe.
Stephanie and Ridge joined Steffy beside Phoebe's body. Steffy said that she always knew when Phoebe was thinking about her, that they had a sixth sense. Steffy said she woke up very early earlier in the week and was outside looking at the sky. She thought she was the only person awake in the city. But then her phone rang and it was Phoebe. She said she told Phoebe she was looking at the sky and Phoebe said she was, too. Steffy said she was certain they had been gazing at the same star, but since Phoebe was gone, that would never happen again.
Stephanie tried to reassure Steffy and said that Phoebe would always be a part of Steffy and would always be in her heart. Steffy took no comfort in Stephanie's words and continued to cry over her sister's body.
Back at home, Steffy went out on the terrace and looked up into the night sky. She asked Phoebe if she could still hear her and feel her. Steffy climbed up higher on the ledge of the terrace and saw a star twinkling in the distance and took it as a sign that Phoebe had answered her. Ridge came outside and was terrified to see Steffy standing so near the ledge. He asked what she was doing, and when she failed to respond he grabbed her and pulled her back to the ground. Ridge again asked Steffy what she was doing and she said she wanted to feel Phoebe. She apologized for scaring Ridge by climbing on the ledge.
Brooke discovered Rick looking out into the night with a heavy heart. She assured him that what happened to Phoebe was an accident. Rick asked Brooke to stop saying that, because he knew that it didn't have to happen. He said Phoebe didn't deserve what happened to her. Rick said the accident happened because of what he had allowed himself to become.
Rick explained that when his relationship with Taylor ended, he blamed Ridge and sought revenge. He confessed to Brooke that he lied when he said that Ridge attacked him. Rick said he was the one who attacked Ridge, and Ridge had only defended himself. Rick said it was his own fault that he fell. Brooke reminded Rick of his original story, and Rick said he lied about the fight so Brooke would blame Ridge and break up with him.
Rick also confessed that he recovered from his paralysis sooner than Brooke thought. He said he pretended to still be paralyzed to keep Brooke and Ridge apart. He said he did those things to gain Brooke's love and attention, but it all seemed pointless since it ended up with Phoebe's death.
Rick also confessed to Brooke about the day he edited the Forrester podcast to remove the kind words Brooke had said about Ridge. Rick said he did it because he wanted to keep Brooke and Ridge apart, and he knew Ridge's ego wouldn't be able to handle it. Brooke was stunned to find out how manipulative and deceptive her son had been.
Brooke reminded Rick that Phoebe was dead and asked why he was talking about all those other issues at such a time. Rick said it was important for Brooke to understand what had happened-that he was obsessed with breaking up Brooke and Ridge. Rick said he thought back to the last time Brooke and Ridge had broken up, and remembered that it was in Sydney when Ridge punched Rick because he was seeing Phoebe.
Rick explained that was why he sent Marcus off to Paris, so he could make a move on Steffy. He said he kissed Steffy. Brooke asked if he did that just to get back at Ridge, and Rick said yes. He told Brooke that Steffy slapped him, and his plan failed. Rick said Steffy told Phoebe that he hit on her, and that was why Phoebe came to his office in such a rage that night. Rick said he had never seen Phoebe so upset, and hadn't known how to handle her anger. He had panicked and told Phoebe he had to go to the engagement party.
Rick said Phoebe followed him to the parking lot and got in his car. He said Phoebe was yelling at him as he drove, and continued to get more and more worked up. After that, Phoebe went berserk, jumped on top of him, clawed his face, and grabbed the steering wheel. Rick said she jerked the wheel to the side and tried to put her foot on the brake, but instead, her foot got wedged under the accelerator.
Rick asked Brooke if she understood why he said none of that had to happen. Rick said it was all his fault, his actions over the past few months led to that fateful moment. Rick repeated that it was all his fault.
Stephanie went to the crash site and talked to Lt. Baker. He said that Rick had been going at least double the speed limit at the time of the crash. Lt. Baker said if Rick had not been wearing a seat belt, he would be dead, too. Stephanie was shocked to learn that Phoebe was not wearing a seat belt.
Stephanie went to Brooke's house and demanded to speak to Rick. Brooke said that was not a good idea due to the way Rick was feeling. Stephanie asked if he felt guilty. Brooke said of course, he had been driving the car, after all. Stephanie said Rick had been driving irresponsibly and erratically and that was why Phoebe was dead. Brooke was shocked that Stephanie would try to use a family tragedy to hurt Rick. Stephanie said Rick would pay for what he had done.

Police investigated at the site of the crash. At Brooke's, Stephanie threw out accusations that Rick was responsible for killing her granddaughter. Stephanie wanted Rick to be charged with a crime. She pointed out how revengeful and deceitful Rick was as she recounted that he had been out of control for months. Stephanie recalled that Rick forced the fight with Ridge, and then faked that he was crippled.
Brooke told her that Rick had already admitted his wrongdoing to her. Brooke begged Stephanie to stop blaming Rick for Phoebe's death. Stephanie was furious, and ranted that Rick had killed Phoebe and hurt her parents, who were going through hell. She shouted that he would pay for what he had done. He swerved all over the road, and he was driving erratically.
Brooke argued that Rick was not responsible for Phoebe's death. Stephanie wanted Rick to swear to the truth on a Bible. Brooke screamed at Stephanie to stop blaming her son. She told Stephanie that Phoebe had attacked Rick and was hitting and scratching him as she grabbed the wheel and slammed her foot on the brake and then slipped onto the accelerator. Brooke told Stephanie that Rick tried everything he could to keep the car under control. Stephanie was livid and in disbelief that Brooke and Rick would blame Phoebe. Brooke countered that she wasn't blaming anyone. She insisted that it was an accident.
Stephanie sputtered that Rick set the entire tragedy in motion, and she swore that Rick would not try to blame a dead girl for his mistakes. Brooke shook her head as Stephanie ranted. Brooke said the whole family was in pain, but she begged Stephanie to stop blaming Rick because it wasn't going to bring Phoebe back.
Stephanie refused to close her eyes on what Rick did. Brooke argued that she would not let Stephanie turn the tragedy into another assault on her family. Brooke spat out a warning to stay away from her son.
Stephanie calmed slightly and said that Rick was a victim because of Brooke. No one had ever taught him ethics or responsibility. Instead, he wanted to get back at Ridge so badly that he would do anything. Stephanie argued that Rick sounded just like Brooke, but Brooke insisted he sounded just like Stephanie.
Stephanie said Rick was desperate for Brooke's attention from the time he was a child. Stephanie blamed Brooke. She said, "You made him into the man he is today. You are to blame. You killed my granddaughter."
At Taylor's, Taylor sobbed as she looked at the family picture. She insisted that Ridge take her to the spot where Phoebe had died. Ridge drove her to the scene of the accident. Taylor and Ridge embraced as they sat on the roadside placing flower petals at the spot where Phoebe died, and they cried. They returned to Taylor's home. Ridge said they needed to focus on Steffy and Thomas, who were upstairs. Taylor wanted to plan the funeral, and Ridge encouraged Taylor to rest. Taylor said she couldn't rest. She said Phoebe had died at the bottom of a ditch, and she'd had no idea. Ridge told Taylor that Phoebe wasn't suffering and she wasn't afraid when he held her. Taylor sobbed that Ridge couldn't have known what she was thinking. Ridge hugged Taylor. The phone rang, and Madison from Forrester, one of Phoebe's friends, called looking for her. Madison asked for Phoebe and asked Taylor to leave a message, but Taylor told her she could not leave a message, and tossed the phone aside. Taylor hugged Ridge, but she was devoid of emotion.
Rick was at his father's house remembering times that he and Phoebe kissed and sang together. Eric came in and hugged Rick, who had been crying. Rick related that Phoebe was very angry with him because of the way he treated Ridge and Steffy. Rick admitted that he used Steffy. Rick said he flirted with Steffy to get back at Ridge. Eric was surprised, bur Rick came clean and said he had been doing everything to get back at Ridge and get him away from Brooke.
Rick remembered that Phoebe was angry and she scratched him and grabbed the steering wheel. Rick cried as Eric hugged him. Rick said he blamed himself.
Eric said he knew that Rick would never hurt Phoebe. Rick said he wanted to disappear, and Eric said Rick didn't have to deal with the tragedy alone. Rick apologized. Rick asked how he could ever face Taylor.

Lt. Baker informed Stephanie that his hands were tied. Rick had not been drinking, and the police did not have evidence to arrest him. Lt. Baker commiserated with Stephanie and said he understood that she wanted someone to blame, but assured her that sometimes accidents just happened. He said Stephanie should concentrate on how to help her family get through the tragedy. As he left the house, Steffy arrived and told her grandma that the accident was her fault. Stephanie assured her it was not.
Steffy explained that Phoebe only got in Rick's car after Steffy told Phoebe that Rick had kissed her. Phoebe's fury towards Rick was because Steffy felt compelled to tell her what Rick had done. Stephanie said Rick was a bastard. Steffy assured her grandmother that nothing had happened with her and Rick. Steffy explained that she slapped Rick when he tried to kiss her and asked Rick to never touch her again.
Stephanie said Steffy should never feel guilt for telling the truth. Phoebe was angry with Rick long before Steffy shared her secret, Stephanie said. Rick was the one to blame and Stephanie didn't want to hear Steffy taking the blame for what happened ever again.
Brooke reflected on the things Stephanie said to her the night before. Stephanie blamed Brooke for the accident. Brooke was the person responsible for turning Rick into such a despicable man according to Stephanie.
Ridge arrived home and he and Brooke spoke for the first time since the accident. Ridge asked if Brooke had informed Hope and R.J. of Phoebe's death. Brooke said she hadn't. Hope had woken up early and gotten dressed in her bridesmaid dress, as she still believed there would be a wedding. Brooke lied to Hope and said the wedding had been called off because it was too windy at the beach. She couldn't bring herself to tell Hope that Phoebe had died. Ridge asked if Rick was upstairs. He said it was time to learn the true story about what had happened with the car accident.
Brooke said Rick left the house before she woke up and she didn't know where he had gone. Ridge asked if Brooke knew what happened. Brooke tried to gingerly explain the circumstances behind the crash to Ridge. Ridge asked Brooke what exactly she was attempting to tell him.
Although Brooke knew the truth would not be easy for Ridge to hear, she attempted to break it to him gently. Phoebe was furious with Rick and had physically attacked him while he was driving. Brooke explained that Phoebe had clawed at Rick's face and grabbed the steering wheel. Ridge was infuriated by Brooke's story. He could not believe that Rick would try to blame Phoebe for the accident. Rick was the one driving, the one who crashed the car, Ridge said.
Brooke tried to get Ridge to understand that what happened was a tragic accident. Their children had been fighting, Rick lost control of the car, and Phoebe's death was senseless, but it was indeed an accident. Brooke suggested the two of them should focus on ways to help their family past the pain of the accident. Stephanie arrived unannounced and said she was sick of hearing Brooke use the word "accident," because Stephanie didn't believe that it was.
Stephanie ranted to Ridge that it had not been an accident. She informed Ridge about the kiss with Steffy, the doctored podcast, the fake paralysis, and all of Rick's other shenanigans. Ridge was infuriated. Brooke said that although all those things were true, Ridge must know that Rick would never hurt Phoebe on purpose. Stephanie said Ridge should stop listening to Brooke. She implored Ridge to pick up the phone and call Lt. Baker and demand the accident be investigated. Stephanie was certain that evidence would be found that would put Rick in jail.
Rick walked into Taylor's house and softly called out her name. She didn't respond. He found her sitting quietly curled up in a chair in the living room. Rick told Taylor he was sorry for what had happened. Taylor didn't answer right away, but eventually expressed that she was glad Rick didn't die. She would have hated to lose him, too. Phoebe would have done so many great things if she had lived, Taylor said tearfully. Rick agreed. Taylor asked Rick to explain to her how Phoebe died.
Rick said Phoebe died peacefully in Ridge's arms, and informed her that Phoebe had been singing Ridge a song when she died. Taylor wanted him to rewind and explain what happened in the car. She specifically asked Rick if Phoebe had mentioned Taylor by name. Rick was hesitant to tell Taylor the truth, because he knew Phoebe was furious with Taylor due to her romantic relationship with Rick.
Rick assured Taylor that Phoebe did not die hating her mother. Taylor said if she had not gotten involved with Rick, things could have been different. Rick said if anyone was to blame, it was he. He reminded Taylor that she tried to break things off with him many times, but he refused to let her go. At the time, they loved each other too much to let go, he said. They didn't realize how badly Phoebe had been hurt. Taylor said that was no excuse. She was the one who made the choice to stay with Rick and hurt her daughter, and she did not know how she was going to live with the consequences.

Monday, December 15th
Stephanie tried to convince Ridge that Phoebe's death was not an accident and that Ridge needed to make Rick pay for what he had done. Meanwhile, Brooke worked equally hard to convince Ridge that Phoebe's death was a horrible accident and nothing more.
Stephanie would not let it rest. She reminded Ridge that Rick had tried to break up Ridge's relationship with Brooke, and that Rick had stolen his job as president of Forrester. Stephanie said Phoebe's life was just one more thing Rick wanted to take from Ridge. Ridge demanded to know why Brooke had not informed him of the horrible things Rick had done. Brooke explained she was about to tell Ridge before Stephanie interrupted. The things Rick did were unforgivable according to Ridge. Brooke agreed, but said that although Rick had done some horrible things, he would never have done anything to intentionally hurt Phoebe. Rick was in as much pain as the rest of the family was about Phoebe's death, she said.
Brooke said Phoebe had trouble accepting the relationship between Rick and Taylor and had been very angry for a long time. Stephanie asked if Brooke was trying to pin the blame on Taylor for Phoebe's death. In Brooke's opinion, no one was to blame, not Taylor, and not Rick. It was simply a tragedy that Rick and the entire Forrester family would have to learn to live with.
Bridget expressed concern for Rick and assured him he was not to blame and there was nothing he could have done to prevent the accident. Rick said he wished Taylor could see it that way. Bridget asked if Taylor blamed Rick. Taylor blamed herself for getting involved with Rick in the first place, Rick said.
Bridget tried to convince Rick that guilt was a worthless emotion. She said his guilt would not change the situation. Rick understood why everyone was upset with him; he said he was responsible for taking Phoebe away from her friends and family. He asked his sister what sort of a person would do that. Bridget responded, "Someone that was in a horrible accident." She assured Rick he was not a bad person. Rick vowed to do whatever was necessary to win back the love and respect of his family.
Bridget asked someone at the morgue if Phoebe's body was still there. It was, but just about to be released. Bridget went inside and uncovered Phoebe's lifeless hand. Bridget wept beside Phoebe's body while holding her hand.
Taylor fought back the images of the day Phoebe walked in and found Rick and Taylor in bed together. Steffy brought her mom a cup of tea, and Taylor started to sob. Taylor said that Phoebe's death was her fault, and Steffy told her to stop saying that. Taylor said if she had not gotten involved with her daughter's first love, none of the things that followed would have happened. Steffy reminded Taylor that Rick and Phoebe had broken up and were over before Rick and Taylor got involved. Taylor said that was no excuse for what she had done to her daughter. Steffy, acting with more grace and maturity than her mother, reminded Taylor that the whole family had things they wished they had done differently in light of Phoebe's death. Steffy said the only person she blamed for Phoebe's death was Rick.
Steffy called Ridge and said Taylor needed him, and asked him to come over right away. Ridge agreed. Steffy reassured Taylor that she had always been a good mom to Phoebe, while Taylor moped and drifted deeper into self-pity.
Ridge arrived and asked Taylor how she was coping. Taylor said she was not coping. Taylor was unable to make sense of Phoebe's death and was unable to find an answer to the question "why?" Tragedies never made sense, Ridge said. It didn't matter who was to blame, Taylor announced. She launched into a tirade. Completely over the top emotionally, she said it might as well have been her behind the wheel instead of Rick. Ridge said he didn't like where Taylor was headed.
Ridge took the blame for Phoebe's accident upon himself. He said if he hadn't planned the engagement party in the first place, Phoebe would be home and safe in front of the fire. Ridge said he knew his kids wanted him to reunite with Taylor, but instead he tried to shove his relationship with Brooke down their throats by planning a big splashy party and insisted they attend. Turning the tables, Taylor comforted Ridge and said he should stop blaming himself, too. None of it mattered, she added. They lost their daughter and she would never be coming back.
Ridge said he did not blame Taylor for what happened, either. Ridge reminded Taylor that Phoebe idolized her and always went to her mom for comfort. Taylor asked Ridge if he thought Phoebe had been happy and if they had given her a good life. Ridge said yes, she was happy girl, who was living her dream singing in front of thousands of people.
Left alone, Brooke and Stephanie bickered about the accident and who was to blame. Stephanie said if Brooke had been a good mother to Rick, this accident could have been avoided. The fact that Rick made a move on Steffy to irritate Ridge was a move right out of Brooke's playbook, according to Stephanie. Brooke said that Rick having kissed Steffy was not the cause of the accident. Brooke reminded Stephanie that she herself had done unspea.k.able acts in her day, and thus should not attempt to pass judgment on other peoples' morals. Brooke was unwilling to listen to Stephanie vilify her son and asked Stephanie to stop throwing around accusations about Rick.
As the matriarch of the family, Stephanie ought to be comforting and leading her family through this tragedy, Brooke said. She also added that Rick was devastated by what had happened, too. Stephanie disagreed and said Ridge, Taylor, Steffy, and Thomas were the ones who were devastated. Stephanie challenged Brooke and said if Brooke wanted to do right by Ridge, she would turn Rick in to the police for his role in Phoebe's death.
That would never happen, Brooke declared, because what happened was an accident. Ridge would not pursue an arrest against her son, Brooke said. Stephanie said Phoebe was part of her family, too, and she could also press charges. Stephanie vowed that if Rick stepped one foot into Phoebe's funeral, she would call the police. She implored Brooke to keep her son away from Phoebe's funeral and away from the family, or Rick would pay the consequences

Tuesday, December 16th
At Taylor's home, she, Ridge, Steffy, and Thomas prepared for Phoebe's funeral. The Forrester home had been set up to accommodate Phoebe's funeral service.
Ridge tried to comfort his daughter. Steffy told him that her mother was deeply pained and had not slept at all during the past night. Steffy questioned how their family would get through the service.
At Forrester Creations, Eric wrote the press release about Phoebe's death. As he was doing so, Donna unexpectedly entered his office. She commented that under the circumstances, she was very surprised to find him there. She remarked that he still felt like her family even thought they were no longer married. Donna hugged Eric and gave him her condolences. Owen was in the hallway and observed Donna with Eric.
Outside on the terrace, the woman that Thorne had hired to pose as Donna approached him. She asked Thorne for a modeling position at Forrester Creations. Thorne rudely told her that he had hired her for a modeling job and had paid her handsomely for it. She commented that she had not been comfortable with the job she had been hired to perform. Thorne sternly warned her that he did not ever want to see her at the Forrester Creations headquarters again.
Outside on the terrace Owen questioned the woman who had just spoken to Thorne. He commented that she looked like a model and could easily be one. He also told her that she looked exactly like someone he knew. She told him that she had done some weird modeling job and was not happy with it.
Steffy was the first one to speak at her twin sister's funeral service. She described to the people in attendance the intensity of her love for her sister. She commented that Phoebe was her closet friend.
Eric next delivered a eulogy at the funeral service. He relayed a story of when Phoebe was four years old and had told her grandfather that "he drew good." He relayed that Phoebe's comments were the most precious review of his work he had ever received from anyone.
Stephanie also spoke at her granddaughter's funeral service. She dramatically described the loss of her granddaughter and the great sense of loss she now felt.
It was then Taylor's turn to speak. She spoke about the loving heart Phoebe had possessed and described how amazingly loving Phoebe had been. Taylor cried that it was not right for a parent to have to bury a child. When Ridge's turn finally came to speak at the funeral, he confessed that he had never wanted his girls to grow up. He commented that he felt guilty that he hadn't been able to protect her from the car accident. He added that he was there with her in her last moments before her death.
Rick unexpectedly appeared at the funeral service. Ridge was furious when he spotted Rick, and confronted him in a highly hostile manner. Rick told Ridge that he loved Phoebe and wanted to pay his respects and say goodbye to her. Rick cried that he would have done anything to bring Phoebe back. Ridge demanded that Brooke make Rick leave. Eric told people that the service had been concluded and people who were not family left.
Stephanie again reminded Brooke that Phoebe was dead because of Rick's actions. Stephanie described how much Rick had robbed from Phoebe: her dreams and the opportunity to have fallen in love, get married, and have had children. Stephanie accused Rick of shedding crocodile tears because he was guilty of causing Phoebe's death. Brooke begged her not to accuse Rick of Phoebe's death. Stephanie implored Ridge to not let Rick get away with killing Phoebe.

Wednesday, December 17th
Ridge asked Brooke why she had not kept Rick away from Phoebe's funeral. According to Ridge, Rick had no right to be there. Brooke defended Rick and said it was important for Rick to pay his respects to Phoebe, just like the rest of the family. She said Rick was grieving. Ridge said if Brooke expected him to feel sorry for Rick, she would be disappointed. Ridge made it clear he did not feel sorry for Rick.
Brooke assured Ridge that she wanted to do everything possible to be there for him during the crisis, and asked what she could do to help him get through it. Ridge said he had just buried his daughter and it was too soon to talk about getting through it. Stephanie called and asked Ridge to stop by the house. He agreed, and Brooke insisted she wanted to come along. Ridge said no, Stephanie had asked to see him alone. Brooke supposed that Stephanie wanted to see Ridge alone so she could try to convince him to press charges against Rick.
Ridge said Stephanie was devastated like everyone else. Brooke agreed, but pointed out that Stephanie hated Rick. Ridge said, considering the circumstances, that was understandable. Brooke said no, it was not understandable. She said no one should hate Rick-he hated himself plenty, and that was punishment enough. Brooke said if Ridge loved her, he would not give in to Stephanie, and would give her son a break. Ridge said he was very angry at Rick, but he would not allow Stephanie to put Rick behind bars because Ridge did love Brooke. Ridge said he and Brooke would deal with Rick. Brooke told Ridge she loved him very much.
Donna asked Owen if he would be able to work with her considering their personal issues. Owen said they had no choice; they had to put the personal matters aside and just get to work. Grace walked in and Owen said he would like to use her as a fit model. Grace had the right figure-and looked remarkably like Donna, Owen mentioned. Donna agreed, but said she would have to run it by Eric and Thorne. Thorne walked in and was shocked to see Grace, the woman he hired to impersonate Donna, in Owen's office. Donna asked Thorne if he thought Grace looked like her. He said perhaps a little bit. Donna mentioned that she and Owen considered using Grace as a model. Thorne asked if he could speak to Grace alone. Thorne reminded Grace that she had been paid very well to do a job, and the job was over. Thorne strongly suggested that she leave and never return to Forrester again. Grace said she looked a lot like Donna and asked Thorne if the job he paid her for had anything to do with Donna. Grace put two and two together and realized Thorne had asked her to pose as Donna to break up Donna and Eric.
Thorne changed his tune and told Grace he might be able to find a position for her at Forrester International. Owen overheard bits and piece of their conversation and implored Grace to tell him what was really going on.
Stephanie told Eric that it was a good thing they had reconciled because their family truly needed them at this difficult time of grieving for Phoebe. Eric agreed and said the family would all need support, including Rick. Stephanie said it was wrong for Rick to attend the service, and mentioned that she asked Brooke to keep Rick away.

At Stephanie's home, Stephanie tried to talk Ridge into pressing charges against Rick. Ridge was disappointed in his mother for pushing the issue. He wanted to get past Phoebe's death, and Stephanie wanted to cast blame. Ridge wondered how he could get through it. Stephanie remembered losing Angela as a baby. She told Ridge that at first, her heart was broken, but as days and years passed, she got through it, though she never forgot her baby girl.
Stephanie gently reminded Ridge that if he were going to hold Rick accountable, he had to do it quickly. She worried that he might change his mind someday. Ridge asked her to stop. He said he had made up his mind. He wanted to move on for himself and his family. He couldn't deal with the rage and let it drag on. Stephanie argued that Steffy, Thomas, and everyone at Forrester would have to see Rick and work with him. She worried that he was getting away with killing Phoebe by driving erratically. She maintained that he had to be held accountable.
Ridge disagreed. He told his mother that nothing would bring Phoebe back, and he and his family had to have closure and move on.
Brooke met with Rick, who worried that Stephanie would never stop blaming him for Phoebe's death. Rick said he worried that she would send the police to arrest him at any moment. Brooke disagreed. She said Ridge wouldn't let that happen. Rick was surprised that Ridge would support him. Brooke said that Ridge knew nothing good would come from blaming Rick. After Rick left, Ridge returned to Brooke, and he told her that he did not plan to press charges against Rick. He wanted his family to heal. He insisted that Phoebe would never want him to blame Rick. He said he wanted to do what was right for himself and his family. He repeated that he knew Phoebe would not want him to press charges against Rick. Brooke was so grateful, she cried and thanked him. She and Ridge embraced.
At Forrester, Grace told Owen everything and they figured out that Thorne set the entire video scam up with someone who looked like Owen getting hot and heavy with someone who looked like Donna. Grace admitted that Thorne paid her a lot of money to make out with the guy who looked a lot like Owen. She said she returned because she wanted her big break at Forrester, and Thorne wasn't happy to see her.
Minutes later, Thorne walked in. Owen called him on his deceitful plan to break up Donna and Eric. Owen figured out that Thorne had a hidden surveillance camera that had a direct feed into Eric's office. Thorne didn't deny it. He told Owen that he figured Donna would never be loyal to Eric. Owen told Thorne he was wrong. Thorne told Owen that if Owen loved Donna, he could have her because she was free. Thorne's plan worked to Owen's advantage. Owen said Donna loved only Eric. Thorne told Owen to think about what he was going to do, because if he kept his mouth shut, Owen could have Donna if she never knew what happened.
Donna visited Eric to offer her condolences on Phoebe's death, but Eric again told her their relationship was over because she'd betrayed him with Owen. Donna told Eric she never betrayed him, but he argued that he saw her. Donna was confused, and said she no longer wanted to stay in Los Angeles. She planned to return to San Francisco. Eric told her he would get the company jet to take her to San Francisco. She left in tears.
While she sat on the company plane looking at photos she had taken with Eric, she cried. Meanwhile at Forrester, Owen visited Eric. Eric was furious at the sight of Owen, and warned him to get out of Forrester. Eric accused Owen of stealing his wife because he was a younger man. Owen denied having a relationship with Donna. Eric said he saw it with own eyes on his computer monitor. Owen started to tell Eric that he had been tricked into believing that he saw Donna and Owen on the surveillance camera. Owen told Eric the people he saw were not Donna and Owen.

Friday, December 19th
Brooke assured Ridge that she would ask Rick to step down from the presidency of Forrester Creations. Since Ridge was not going to press charges against Rick, Brooke felt it was the right thing to do. Brooke supposed that Ridge needed to work to keep his mind off of Phoebe's death. Ridge said he needed more than that. After all that had transpired, Ridge said he could not stand to see Rick's face, and thought it would be best if Rick moved back to Paris.
Ridge reminded Brooke that since Rick arrived home, he had caused Ridge and Brooke to break up twice, Rick had stolen Ridge's job, and Phoebe had died because of Rick. Ridge said he wanted his life back with Brooke-without Rick's interference. Ridge understood that Rick was Brooke's son, but Ridge implored her to see his point of view. Brooke agreed. Ridge suggested that the idea to move back to Paris should come from Brooke. He felt that Rick would reject the idea if Rick believed it was an ultimatum from Ridge.
Stephanie heard the doorbell ring and was stunned to find Rick at her door. She told him he was not welcome in her home. Rick reminded her that it was his father's house. Rick said he understood that Stephanie wanted him in prison. Stephanie said she wanted Rick to pay for what he had done. Rick said he had done nothing that compared to what Stephanie had done to Brooke and the rest of his family over the years. Stephanie pointed out that at least her victims were still alive and breathing. Rick said if Stephanie wanted to accuse him of hurting Phoebe, that was true. But spreading the lie that he killed Phoebe was one lie he would not tolerate.
Stephanie taunted Rick and said he would have to wake up every day knowing that Phoebe would never wake up again because of him. Stephanie said she pitied any of Brooke's kids if she raised her other children the way she raised Rick-without regard to the consequences their actions held. Rick said he was wasting his breath trying to talk to Stephanie, and noted she had not changed her mind about anything in her life.
Brooke suggested that Rick step down and move back to Paris. Rick did not look thrilled by the idea. Rick asked Brooke if she saw him the way Stephanie did, as a killer. Brooke said of course she didn't. She just wanted to do what was best for everyone. Rick said the only two reasons for Brooke to ask Rick to run to Paris were that she thought he was guilty, or that her relationship to Ridge depended on it. Brooke reminded Rick that he had been antagonizing Ridge before the accident happened, and since the accident, Ridge was grieving the loss of his daughter. Rick said he was grieving, too. Rick asked if Ridge needed an entire continent to grieve on, since Rick was being asked to leave the country.
Rick said that once again, Brooke had been given a choice between her son and Ridge and that again, she chose Ridge. Brooke said yes, but just for the time being. Rick asked what would change - he offhandedly remarked that maybe in five years or so, he and Ridge would miss one another and he would get to come home. Brooke pushed Rick to go. She asked Rick if it was wrong for her to want to salvage some sort of relationship with the man she loved. She asked Rick to go back to Paris and make a life for himself, and to do it for her.
On the Forrester jet, the flight attendant asked Donna what she wanted to drink, but was unsure whether or not to call Donna "Mrs. Forrester." Donna said it was all right, that she didn't know who she was again, either.
Owen filled Eric in on Thorne's evil scheme to frame Donna and make it appear as though she betrayed him. Eric was shocked to discover that Thorne hired look-alike models to trick Eric into believing that Donna had cheated on him. Thorne tried to convince Eric that he had done it for Eric's own good, but Eric was not biting. Eric called the airport to see if the Forrester jet had taken off yet. He thanked Owen for telling him the truth, and rushed off to catch Donna.
The flight attendant brought a pot of tea to Donna, complete with a plastic honey bear. Donna asked her to take the honey bear away. Eric emerged and asked if someone mentioned his name. Eric explained to Donna that he had been spying on her, and about Thorne's setup. He said he was sorry. That was the reason he had told Donna their marriage was over, he said - because Eric believed Donna had been unfaithful to him. Eric had lost faith in Donna, and asked her if she would ever be able to forgive him for it.
She said she understood. Donna said if the situations had been reversed and she had seen Eric and Stephanie making out on video, she would have seen red, too. Eric informed the flight attendant that he and his wife would not need any more cabin service for the evening. Donna was thrilled to hear Eric call her his wife again.

Monday, December 22nd
Brooke worked hard to convince Rick that he should go back to Paris to give Ridge space to deal with Phoebe's death. Rick said he could not run from what happened; no matter where he went, he would carry her death with him every day. Rick asked Brooke if she really thought that exiling Rick from his family would be a good thing. He suspected she was asking him to atone for his sins. Brooke replied that it was not punishment. She just felt that Rick needed time to examine the mistakes he had made and to make sure he didn't repeat them in the future. Brooke's relationship with Ridge was hard for Rick to watch, so Brooke thought it would be best for Rick to put some distance between them so he didn't have to watch the two of them together.
Rick finally agreed that some distance might be in order. He said he had to find peace, and it appeared he would have to go halfway around the world to find it. Rick said in Paris, he would not have to drive down the same road where Phoebe died and continually play the accident over and over in his head. His presence in L.A. would just be a constant reminder of the tragedy, he said. Rick said he didn't feel like he fit in at home anymore. Sadly, he also felt he would not fit in back in Paris, or anywhere he went. He said the memory of Phoebe would follow him wherever he went, forever.
Brooke was concerned about his demeanor and asked him if he really wanted to go. Rick said he hadn't been given a choice; it was clear he was not welcome at home anymore. Brooke reminded Rick that he was her son and would always be welcome in her home. Rick sarcastically said, "As long as Ridge isn't around." Brooke was afraid that Rick had misinterpreted their talk. Rick said he could not blame the family for wanting him to leave town, and broke down crying. Rick said he should have been the one who died. Rick admitted he was the one who had done things wrong, but Phoebe was innocent and paid the price. Phoebe did not deserve to die, Rick said. Brooke agreed that Phoebe didn't deserve to die, but also said that Rick should not blame himself. Phoebe's death was just an accident, Brooke said, and it was not Rick's fault. Rick asked why, if Brooke really believed that, he had to go. Brooke said he did not have to go and that she could not go through with it. She could not send her son away in his time of need. The two embraced and cried.
Brooke agreed to talk to Eric and Ridge and work out some deal so Rick could stay in town. She said no one should be alone on the holidays; Christmas was for giving and forgiving. She had faith that Ridge would come around.
The tree nursery arrived at Stephanie's with a giant Christmas tree. She apologized to Ridge for the bad timing and suggested she could get rid of it. Ridge said perhaps they could donate it to a homeless shelter. Stephanie asked if that was what he really wanted, and he switched gears. Ridge thought Phoebe would want the family to spend Christmas together, so they decided to keep the tree. Ridge said it would be wonderful, since his parents had reunited. He said the Forrester family was always at its strongest when Eric and Stephanie were together.
Ridge thought the family would benefit from some normalcy, so they planned a traditional family Christmas. Stephanie asked if Brooke would attend without Rick, and Ridge said yes. They had agreed to send Rick back to Forrester International, Ridge explained. Stephanie, ever the devil's advocate, said that just because they asked Rick to go back to Paris didn't mean he would actually go. Ridge said he had to go, because Ridge could not bear to face Rick every day after the tragedy with Phoebe.
Thorne arrived at Stephanie's and was surprised to see the tree. She explained that Ridge thought it was a good idea to leave it up, and for the family to try to spend Christmas together. Thorne cautioned her about getting her hopes up. He said Stephanie had a vision in her head of everyone standing around the piano singing and drinking eggnog, but that it might not work out that way. Stephanie said she and Eric had reunited, and the two of them would work to ensure that nothing bad happened to their family on the holidays. Thorne, however, was privy to the truth-that Eric went off with the intention of reconciling with Donna.
Unbeknownst to the rest of the family, Donna and Eric reunited and made love on the Forrester jet. Eric said Donna was the person who brought joy to his life when sorrow was surrounding him. He apologized for hurting her. Donna said she understood, and that after all, Eric believed that she had betrayed him. Donna said she was afraid Eric had stopped loving her. He said he tried to stop loving her, but he could not.
Donna emerged from the flight deck wearing the Captain's hat and not much else. Eric and Donna giggled and kissed like school children as they engaged in a sex fantasy starring Donna as a naughty flight attendant.
Eric said they had better go home; he needed to tell Stephanie he and Donna had reconciled. Donna urged him to wait until after Christmas. She said with Phoebe's death, his family would really need him to get through the holidays. Donna said it was her first Christmas with Marcus, and that Eric should be with Stephanie and his kids to mourn the loss of his granddaughter. She assured him they would have the rest of their lives to spend Christmas together. Eric said he had reconciled with Stephanie based on a lie, and since he was armed with the truth, he had to tell Stephanie what had happened. Eric said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Donna. Donna beamed and simply said, "Okay."
Ridge arrived at Brooke's and asked her if she had talked to Rick. She said he did and that he agreed to go. Brooke explained that Phoebe's death had caused Rick to question the kind of man he was. Ridge said if Rick didn't question himself, he would not be any kind of man at all. Brooke expressed concern for Rick and said he seemed depressed. Ridge said a change of scenery would do Rick good. Brooke said she didn't want Rick to go. Ridge said he understood, but that every time he saw Rick, he saw his daughter's body lying in a ditch, and he could just not live that way.
Brooke said exiling Rick to another country would not help Ridge with his grief. She said she just could not, on good conscience, send her son away to be all alone after what he had been through. Brooke said Ridge looked at Rick and saw the man he believed was responsible for his daughters' death. Brooke said she looked at Rick and saw her son, who was very fragile and had been through a tragedy. She said they could work it out so that Rick and Ridge never had to run into one another, but Rick was her child and she needed to help him through his guilt, grief and loss. Brooke said if Rick were in Paris, she would not be able to help him. She asked Ridge to try to understand. He said no, he could not understand. Brooke reminded Ridge that he was the one who always said their love could survive anything. She asked him to promise they would survive this tragedy, too. Ridge did not answer, and Brooke began to cry.

Tuesday, December 23rd
At Stephanie and Eric's home, the Forrester family prepared to celebrate Christmas. Stephanie told Eric that the traditional gathering was what Ridge had requested to help him get through Christmas while grieving his daughter, Phoebe.
At Nick's house, Donna, Brooke, and Katie gathered for Christmas. Nick left "on a mission" with baby Jack. The three Logan sisters talked about how they missed Phoebe. They agreed that they did not know how Taylor would get through the Christmas holiday while grieving Phoebe. Donna commented to Katie that she believed that Nick had found the right person in his relationship with her.
While at Nick's, Donna had a telephone conversation with Eric. He promised her that they would never be apart at Christmas again. Donna understood that he did not want to inform Stephanie about his and Donna's reunion as a couple until after Christmas was over.
Nick returned home with his mother and baby Jack. He explained that they had gone to the hospital to distribute gifts to the sick children. Nick commented that he wanted to give something back to the hospital that had saved both Jack and Katie's life. Later, Nick, Katie, and baby Jack celebrated Christmas together as a family.
Brooke, Ridge, Bridget, Felicia, Thorne, Thomas, Steffy, and the younger children all arrived at the Forrester family Christmas gathering. Steffy mentioned to Ridge that Taylor was not with them because of her poor state of mind from grieving Phoebe, and did not want to be around other people. The general consensus amongst them was that Taylor should not be alone.
Meanwhile, at Phoebe's gravesite, Rick spoke to her and blamed himself for her death. He told her that it should have been him that had been killed in the accident instead of her. Taylor quietly arrived and listened to what Rick said to Phoebe. She let Rick know that she was there and told him that they all could think of a hundred reasons to blame themselves for Phoebe's death.
Rick left the gravesite to give Taylor time alone with Phoebe. He went to his father's home, although he felt he was not welcome there. When Rick arrived at the house, he asked Eric to distribute his Christmas gifts to the children. Eric asked Rick to stay. He advised Rick that there would be no hatred from anyone. He advised that it was his family and Rick had as much right to be with his family and people who supported him as Taylor did.
When Steffy noticed Rick's arrival at the Forrester home, she immediately became agitated and started to say that Rick was responsible for her sister's death. Bridget took Steffy aside and informed her that she had conducted DNA testing from tissue found underneath Phoebe's fingernails and that the DNA matched Rick's DNA. Bridget pointed out that the DNA was proof of the account that Rick had told them. He had stated that Phoebe had physically attacked him while he was driving the car and caused him to lose control of the vehicle. Steffy had no remark for Bridget's revelation.
Ridge located Taylor at Phoebe's gravesite. He consoled her and they grieved together. He told her that Phoebe was not at the gravesite; she was at the Forrester home watching the Christmas celebration with the rest of her family. Ridge convinced Taylor to go back to the Forrester celebration with him. When they arrived, the family was singing a Christmas song accompanied by Eric, who played the piano for them. Hope explained to Taylor that she had made a star for Phoebe. Taylor commented that she was happy by what Hope did. She told Hope that Phoebe was there sharing the celebration with them.

Wednesday, December 24th
Katie informed Nick that Jack had fallen asleep. Nick asked Katie if she called Brooke. He said he was supposed to take Jack over to her house before the end of the night. Katie said if Brooke realized Jack was asleep. She was certain Brooke would not want them to wake him. Brooke could see Jack in the morning Katie said. Katie added that Nick wanted to see Jack open his gifts Christmas morning anyway.
Katie spoke to Brooke and Brooke agreed to pick Jack up in the morning. Nick and Katie were happy for the quiet time they had to themselves and exchanged gifts. Nick told Katie no more Nerf basketball; they were headed for a real court. He gave her a pair of white sneakers and they discussed all the implications of the color white. The topic of wedding dresses arose, and Nick pulled out a gift and said he brought a back up just in case the first gift bombed. It was a beautiful ring, and Katie began to cry.
Nick joked that women always cried when he gave them rings. He said he had been married several times before without success, and if Katie refused his proposal and ran for the door, he would understand. Katie said yes, and accepted his proposal. There was nothing she wanted more in the world than to spend a life with Nick and Jack.
Taylor thanked Hope for the star she made for the tree in memory of Phoebe. Hope was sad and wished that Phoebe was still there. Brooke explained that Phoebe was still with the family, but just in a different way. Phoebe lived on in their hearts and memories, Brooke said. Taylor fought back the tears and said there had been enough crying. Christmas was a celebration and she wanted the family to go on with the traditions Phoebe had always loved like making popcorn chains for the tree and singing around the piano.
Steffy instructed the family to stop eating the popcorn or they would run out before they made the chain. The grandkids teased Eric when he suggested popping more corn over the fire and asked him if he had ever heard of a microwave. Stephanie looked at Eric adoringly as he played with the grandkids. She commented to Thorne that Eric was the biggest kid in the room. Thorne reminded Stephanie that Eric loved her and that no matter how things turned out, Eric would always hold a place for Stephanie in his heart. Stephanie looked puzzled but thanked him for saying it.
Ridge made a heartwarming speech to the family. He mentioned that the family had endured a heartbreaking tragedy, but wished the miracle of Christmas to bring peace to everyone in the room. Rick personally thanked Ridge for his words. Rick explained to Ridge that he understood how Ridge felt about him. Rick knew without Ridge's refusal to press charges, he would be in jail for Christmas instead of with his family.
Taylor made a brief speech to the family. She thanked God for them and said Phoebe would be happy they had gathered together to celebrate the holidays. Taylor continued that Christmas could have been the 2nd worst day of her life, her first one without Phoebe, but instead, with love and support from her family, she actually felt joy for the first time since Phoebe died.
Everyone hugged and wished each other a Merry Christmas, and gathered around the piano and sang ‘Joy to the World'.

Stephanie attempted to pit Ridge against Brooke by playing on his hatred towards Rick. Thinking that Eric had arrived for their secret rendezvous, Donna opened the door to her worst nightmare. Pamela appeared. An argument about Rick's fate prompted Eric to explain to Stephanie about Thorne's botched scheme to break him and Donna up. Knowing where the conversation was headed, Stephanie didn't mince words when she bluntly asked if he was leaving her. Rick's life took another drastic turn when he was visited by Steffy and they shared a kiss.

Ridge said he did not want Brooke to lose her son. They had already endured the pain of him losing his daughter, Phoebe. Ridge admitted he nearly let his grief push him into losing Brooke. Brooke said if Ridge told her what he needed, that was how it would be. She would do anything. Ridge said he only needed Brooke and the two kissed. Ridge said he would like Rick to keep his distance, especially from Thomas and Steffy. Ridge said he understood that Eric would want to keep Rick on at Forrester, but he hoped Rick would not be in his office. Brooke said they should talk to Eric and see what could be done to accommodate him. Brooke thanked Ridge for his kindness regarding her son. Ridge said kind was not really the way he was feeling, but he was trying to do his best.
Steffy and Rick kissed passionately and made a joint decision that they should stop. But then the passion got the best of them and they began kissing again. Rick pulled away and said he could not go ahead. Steffy insisted that she knew Rick was not using her like he did when he kissed her before. Rick still protested, but Steffy lunged at him with her lips aimed for his and kissed him again. The two undressed and dropped to the floor in front of the fireplace. Just as they were about to make love, Brooke and Ridge knocked on Rick's door.
Rick rushed to the door while he looked over his shoulder to make certain Steffy was out of sight. Brooke said they wanted to talk to Rick. She said Ridge understood that Rick was her son and that they realized it was not the right time for Rick to go to Paris. Brooke explained that they expected Rick to accept the boundaries Ridge requested. Rick agreed and said he would do whatever was in his power to make it easier on Ridge for Rick to stay in town. Ridge said that since Rick and Taylor shared a history, he would not interfere in whatever relationship the two of them had. Brooke said that Thomas would not be around much, but Ridge really wanted Rick to keep his distance from Steffy. Steffy overheard that request from Rick's bedroom where she was still partially undressed.
Rick said he didn't understand why Ridge didn't want him dead or behind bars after what he did to Phoebe. Rick said he realized it would sound shallow and meaningless, but he truly loved Phoebe, and was deeply sorry for what had happened. Rick wanted to find a way to make things right with Ridge. Rick said he loved Phoebe and would never have done anything to deliberately hurt her. Ridge said all he asked was that Rick would keep his distance from Ridge's family as they tried to heal. He said Rick should not have any contact with Thomas or Steffy. Rick agreed to Ridge's request while Steffy cried silently in the other room.
Stephanie asked Eric point-blank if he planned to leave her. Eric said yes, he was going to cancel his divorce from Donna because that choice had been made under false pretenses. Stephanie suggested that the reason Eric had been so ready to believe the phony video he saw of Donna cheating on him was because somewhere inside, Eric knew he could not trust Donna. Stephanie implied that Donna was not the sort to be faithful for long. Eric said he realized Stephanie was hurt, but didn't like her saying such awful things about Donna. Stephanie said Donna would be just as happy being married to a young man who didn't have to hold in his tummy when he had a swimsuit on. If another man came along who could house and clothe Donna in the manner to which she had become accustomed, she would be with him in a heartbeat, insisted Stephanie.
Stephanie asked Eric if he had only pretended to care for her because he thought Donna was cheating on him. Stephanie said her hair had gone white, and she had lost her figure, and Eric was casting her aside to make goo-goo eyes at a voluptuous young woman. There was no substance to that relationship, only pleasure, Stephanie said. Eric said Stephanie thought pleasure was a dirty word. He didn't see anything wrong with pleasure. Stephanie asked Eric where all his pretty young things were when Eric was in the hospital dying. Eric said Stephanie always told him that no one loved him but her. Stephanie announced that Eric had won; she was finished with him. Stephanie said when things fell apart with Donna, she didn't want him to come crawling back to her.
Eric asked Stephanie if she had ever met a man she had genuinely liked. He said she claimed to hate her father, yet his brand of masculinity was the only one she could accept. Stephanie said she had many men she liked and admired, and mentioned Massimo's name. Eric asked why she had not married Massimo, since she was pregnant with his child. Stephanie said she asked herself that many times. Eric said she married him and then railed at him his whole life for being spineless. Eric said if he hadn't been a weakling, he would never have married Stephanie. Stephanie accused Donna of trapping Eric into marriage, but Eric reminded Stephanie that in truth, it was she who had trapped him into marrying her all those years ago. Donna gave herself to Eric freely, he said, while Stephanie demanded his future, his firstborn, and his dignity. Eric said that debt was paid and he would not pay anymore.
Stephanie announced that to maintain her dignity, she was not going to wait for Eric to walk out on her. She said she was leaving him and that she would not be back. Eric said "Woe to the bookie who takes bets on that." Stephanie asked if she was fired. Eric said he hadn't hired her back in the first place. She asked again if she was fired. Eric said he didn't want things to deteriorate between them. She reminded him that they had a meeting the next day at nine o'clock. Eric reminded Stephanie that she had just finished saying that she was leaving and never coming back. Stephanie told Eric he would never be rid of her. That from the woman with six guns registered in her name, said Eric. Stephanie retorted that it said something about her that after all the abuse Eric heaped on her over the years that she never shot him. Eric could not help but smile at Stephanie as she walked out the door.
Donna opened the door to find Aunt Pam with a shiny object in her hand and Donna screamed at the top of her lungs. Pam chuckled and wondered aloud if Donna had never seen a crochet hook before. Donna warned Pam that she was going to call the police. Pam explained that she was crocheting a yarmulke for her Jewish brain surgeon. Pam explained she was in L.A. because the doctor asked to see her to get a progress report on her brain surgery. Pam said she felt like a new person, and had stopped by just to apologize to Donna for the terrible things she had done to her. Donna appeared stunned to hear those words escape Pam's lips.
Donna asked if Pam's therapist asked her to apologize. Pam said not at all, that in fact her therapist thought it was a bad idea. Donna asked why Pam had come, and Pam replied that she wanted to make amends. She pulled something out of her purse and handed it to Donna. Donna was afraid to touch it and asked Pam what it was. Pam had crocheted Donna a bikini top. Pam explained she didn't know what size Donna was, so she had taken it to the produce department and tried it on some melons. Donna looked at Pam with horror.
Pam said that it appeared that Donna didn't have much respect for handicrafts. Donna said she was afraid that anything Pam had touched would explode when she tried it on. Pam insisted she was merely trying to make amends and hoped one day she and Donna could be friends. Donna reminded Pam that she had tried to feed her to a bear, and Pam replied that perhaps they wouldn't be able to be friends right away. Donna asked Pam if she intended to fly back to Chicago after her checkup. Pam said that L.A. was a big city and that she assumed Donna had never spent a winter in Chicago. Pam said she missed L.A. and the warm weather. When Donna realized Pam wanted to stay in L.A. she simply repeated the word "NO" several times.
Pam said with 10 million people in L.A., Donna would not even know she was in town. Donna reminded Pam that she agreed not to press charges against Pam on the condition that Pam remained locked up someplace. Pam said she was taking her meds and was no longer a danger to anyone. She said she realized that Donna didn't intend to kill her dog, Tiny. Donna got spooked and told Pam it was time to leave. Pam asked Donna if she felt that had gone well for a first visit. Donna replied there would be no second visit then pushed Pam out the door and locked it.

At the Forrester Creations headquarters, Eric conducted a meeting with the entire family. He thanked them for a good Christmas despite Phoebe's tragic death. Eric announced that he had decided to leave Stephanie and resume his marriage to Donna. Ridge and Felicia commented that they were surprised by Eric's news. Eric explained that he had been misled into believing that Donna had cheated on him when in fact she had not. He explained that Thorne had used doubles of Owen and Donna and showed him that they had sexual relations in Owen's office.
Stephanie told her children that although she was upset by Eric's leaving, she did not want their pity and that she had to accept the situation. Ridge announced to Thorne and Felicia that he still had issues with Rick. Soon afterward, Eric appointed Ridge CEO of Forrester Creations. He announced that Rick would remain the president of Forrester Creations.
Rick congratulated Ridge on his appointment as president of Forrester Creations.
Rick later told Brooke that he was very grateful that Ridge had forgiven him for Phoebe's death. He told Brooke that he wanted to set things right; Ridge had lost a daughter and he commented that he felt responsible. Suddenly, Steffy sent a text message to Rick and asked him to meet her at the dressing room.
As they prepared for the Forrester fashion show, Owen told Donna that even though they were not in a romantic relationship, he still cared about her. She thanked him for informing Eric that doubles were used to pose as the two of them. She informed him that Pam was back in town. She explained that Pam's doctor's felt she was stable enough to leave the hospital if she continued to take her medication. She showed Owen the bikini that Pam had crocheted. Somehow, the model Grace put the bathing suit on. Donna informed her that the bikini was not part of the show.
Donna informed Eric that the fashion show would benefit the V-8 Program which donated fruits and vegetables to low-income families. Donna explained the details of the Surf Line show to Eric.
Ridge suggested to Brooke that they get married right after the fashion show; Brooke happily agreed to do so. Brooke thanked Ridge for his effort to forgive Rick. She further commented that they were meant to be together because they had survived everything-Stephanie and then Rick. Ridge commented that he was worried about Steffy, who was vulnerable after losing her twin sister.
At the runway, Eric noticed the bikini on Grace. He commented that he thought the bikini was fabulous and decided it should be part of the fashion show. Eric asked Donna to model the showstopper. Eric decided the showstopper would be the bikini that Pam had crocheted. Donna did not get a chance to tell Eric that Pam had made the bikini. Owen advised Donna to just wear the bikini and let go of the fact that Pam had made it.

Wednesday, December 31st
Brooke asked Ridge how things were coming along for the fashion show. Ridge said fine, but that even if all hell broke loose, he would take the time to ring in the New Year by taking a beautiful bride. Brooke giggled like a schoolgirl. Brooke reminded Ridge they had people they had to tell about their wedding. Ridge said he would explain the situation to Taylor. Although the whole family was still mourning the loss of Phoebe, Ridge wanted Taylor to understand why he and Brooke had decided to move forward with their plans.
Taylor asked Steffy how she was coping with her grief. Steffy said she was handling it. Taylor cautioned her daughter that people were emotionally vulnerable while they were grieving, and that Steffy might find herself doing or saying things she could not have imagined herself doing before. Steffy flashed back to kissing Rick, but said nothing.
Ridge arrived and explained to Steffy and Taylor that he and Brooke planned to marry right after the fashion show. Taylor asked if they had resolved their problems over Rick. Ridge said he felt certain he would be able to forgive Rick eventually. He was actively working on it, and had set some guidelines for Rick, one of which was to stay away from Steffy, Ridge announced.
Ridge assured Taylor he would still be around to support her. They discussed how worried they were when Steffy drove after Phoebe's accident. Ridge said whenever Taylor needed him, he would be there for her. She admitted that she wished he were marrying her.
Meanwhile, Brooke had a similar talk with Rick. Rick didn't respond, and Brooke asked if Rick still had reservations about her impending marriage to Ridge. Rick said not at all, he finally realized how much Ridge loved Brooke. Rick said he never thought he would say it, but Ridge was actually worthy of Brooke. Ridge proved himself with everything he had done for Rick after the accident. The real problem for Rick was that he was lost in thoughts of kissing Steffy. Brooke said she could tell something was still troubling Rick and implored him to confide in her. Rick's mind played a video of him and Steffy kissing, and he told Brooke nothing was wrong.
Rick said he never wanted to do anything again to jeopardize Brooke's happiness. She assured him that she knew he would not do that. Brooke knew that Rick wanted the family to heal as much as she did, and promised him that everything would be fine.
When Ridge arrived home, Brooke asked if Taylor had still hoped for a reunion with Ridge. Ridge said he would always be connected to Taylor, but that Brooke was his love and his life.
Pam and Stephanie had a happy reunion and embraced. Stephanie admitted that she was surprised to see Pam out and about. Pam asked Stephanie not to pull any punches. Pam admitted she had been truly crazy and had to be sprung from the mental hospital. Pam filled Stephanie in on her visit with Donna and on the bikini she crocheted for Donna. Stephanie looked surprised. Pam continued on and said that she was happy to be whole again, just as Eric and Stephanie's marriage was whole again. Stephanie had to correct Pam and let her know that she and Eric had separated again. Stephanie let Pam know that Donna and Eric had reconciled.
Pam tried to comfort her, but Stephanie insisted that she was fine. Stephanie suggested that she and Pam could share a place and have fun living together as sisters again. Pam said Stephanie was a remarkable woman and Eric would regret giving her up one day. Pam said Stephanie was a million times the woman Donna was. Stephanie laughed and told Pam she wouldn't argue with her on that point. Stephanie toyed with the idea of going to see Eric for New Year's Eve for their traditional toast.
Eric prepared for the fashion show and promised Donna that after it was over, the two of them would have a magnificent New Year's Eve. Donna told Eric she wanted to discuss his choice of showstopper with him. He said it was not up for discussion. The design was fabulous and the stitching was intricate. That was the piece he wanted. Donna had to be the bearer of bad news and told him that Pam was back in town and that she was the one who had made the bikini. Donna explained that Pam had apologized for all the horrible things she had done. Donna said Pam seemed sincere, but reminded Eric she had fooled them before. Eric said this time he was around to protect Donna and she was safe with him. Eric said he had a special dress lined up for Donna to wear and ask her to go and slip into it.
Steffy went to Rick and explained the press kits did not make note of the fact a percentage of their proceeds from the show were going to a V8 "Make Every Serving Count" charity campaign. Rick completely ignored what she said and noted that he had never seen her so hyper before. Steffy explained it was her first fashion show and she didn't want to mess anything up. Rick reminded her that her family owned the company and it was unlikely she would get fired. Rick reminded Steffy that it was New Year's Eve. He asked what her resolutions would be. She said he already knew-to stay away from him. Rick said they had until midnight to make that resolution and asked if he could kiss her one more time before the clock struck midnight. Steffy agreed to one last kiss.
Eric had arranged a romantic dinner for two on the fashion show stage for him and Donna. She had on the gorgeous golden gown he had waiting for her and he was in a tuxedo. As they lifted their champagne glasses to toast one another, Stephanie lurked in the hallway. She heard Eric use the same toast he had used with her all of the years of their marriage and walked away forlorn. Donna and Eric toasted the New Year, unaware Stephanie had been there, and declared their love for one another as the clock stuck twelve.

Friday, January 2nd, 2009
Forrester Creations staged a fashion show where their new "Surfliner" swimwear collection debuted. Eric gushed when he saw Donna, and said she would be the highlight of the show in her crocheted bikini. Donna was visibly jittery and Eric asked her what the problem was. Donna explained that her suit was just a ball of yarn and it could get snagged and fall off of her mid-show. Eric, dirty old man that he was, exclaimed that if that happened, it would certainly be a showstopper to top all others.
Reporters questioned Rick about the V8 tie-in promotion.
A member of the press called out "Mrs. Forrester!" and both Donna and Stephanie responded, which was awkward. The reporter pounced on Eric as he entered the room and asked him why he had chosen to design surf wear instead of ball gowns. Eric said he was invigorated after his illness and was ready to try something fresh. The reporter cattily looked at Stephanie, Eric's first wife and quipped, "Out with the old and in with the new." Stephanie did not look amused.
Eric apologized to Stephanie and assured her that she was not being discarded. He said he would understand if she wanted to leave. Stephanie responded that she did not want to miss Donna's bikini line. The two of them shared a warm laugh. Stephanie reminded Eric that he had nearly died, and said that Eric had lived through his ordeal; she admitted he was happy and that was all Stephanie ever wanted for him.
Eric gathered the models and staff and gave them a pep talk prior to the beginning of the show. He said that swimwear was sexy, rebellious, and exciting, and he wanted the models to embody that on the runway. Eric said he realized that deviating from the norm was a risk, but he believed they were up for the challenge. Eric suggested that their new line would encourage their clients to get out in the sun and become more active.
Ridge introduced Eric to the audience, and Eric spoke about taking the company in a new youthful and energetic direction. In that spirit, Eric continued, he wanted to introduce the new president, his son Rick. When Rick took the microphone and began to speak, Steffy made goo-goo eyes at Rick and reminisced about their forbidden kiss.
The models paraded up and down the runway in bizarre attire, such as bikinis paired with winter boots, scarves, and ear flap hats. The crowd clapped politely and Eric noted that they had not "wowed" their audience yet. He predicted that they would as soon as they saw Donna in her show-stopping bikini.
Donna waited restlessly in the wings but eventually went and found Owen in the changing area. She told him she could not go down the runway with "Crazy Pam's" crocheted bikini. Donna predicted Eric would be a laughingstock. She refused to wear it. Owen went to Eric and explained that Donna didn't want to wear that piece. Eric said Owen needed to convince Donna to wear the bikini. Owen returned to Donna and told her that her husband needed her and that she needed to wear it, period. Reluctantly, she changed back into it.
Meanwhile, Steffy noticed that her grandfather looked glum. She asked him what was wrong, and he said their buyers didn't know what to make of the new collection. He told her it wasn't always easy to sell new ideas, and she said, "Tell me about it." She understood full well what he meant.
As the show continued, Stephanie was startled to look up and find Pam was in the audience. Stephanie was seated next to Taylor and expressed that she was concerned about Eric because his show was not being well received. Taylor asked Stephanie why she didn't go check in on Eric. Stephanie said she was not Eric's wife anymore. Taylor assured Stephanie that Eric would always need her. After Taylor's pep talk, Stephanie got up and headed Eric's way.
Steffy bumped into Rick backstage, and the two agreed the show was not going very well. Steffy said at least they could look forward to Brooke and Ridge's wedding after the show.
Brooke and Ridge lingered in the hallway, and Brooke said she felt like she should go to Rick and comfort him. Ridge said a kind word from his mommy would not ease Rick's disappointment. Ridge assured her Rick was a grown man and would handle the disappointment. Ridge reminded Brooke that Rick would have other shows in the future. Ridge urged Brooke to ditch the rest of the show and go and get married right away. Brooke agreed and the two snuck out the back door.
While Donna changed back into the bikini, Eric went onstage and stalled for the crowd. When the music started up, he said the showstopper was a piece that had been designed by his wife Donna. When Donna "surfed" onto the stage in the bikini Pam had crocheted for her, Pam got that crazy look in her eyes again. She went backstage and confronted Donna for taking credit for Pam's design.
Ridge and Brooke arrived at the top of a cliff overlooking the beach at Malibu to begin their wedding. When Brooke looked down in the sand, the names Ridge and Brooke had been artistically carved inside a giant heart on the beach below them.
