Thank you, Susan! I love Leslie Kay and the interview was a great one! I just hope Leslie doesn't get paid for her lines on the show... For the rest I guess we just have to wait and see.... nothing would surprise me.

The Bold and the Beautiful Interview: Lesli Kay
The power of B&B.
Soap Opera Fan Blog recently spoke with Lesli Kay (Felicia, B&B) about the 2009 Soap Cruise (the article can be read on Soaps.com), but of course we also had to chat a bit about The Bold and the Beautiful! Throughout our conversation, the veteran soap actress was very open about her thoughts on working on the show, as well as her character’s noticeable absence from the canvas.
But before we delved into all of that, since Thanksgiving had just passed, Lesli shared how she spent the holiday. Right off the bat she let me know that she didn’t cook and just enjoyed a nice quiet day with her husband, Keith Coulouris (ex-David/Reid, “As the World Turns”) and their two kids. “My husband was really bummed to not have leftovers on Friday, but it was nice to just sit and enjoy the kids rather than cooking and cleaning and not being able to sit down at all,” she said.
Her family also has a tradition of going to see a movie on Thanksgiving and this year they went to see “Bolt”, in which Lesli’s co-star Ronn Moss (Ridge) voices a character. However, Leslie didn’t even know Ronn was a part of the movie as she marveled, “Ronn is so quiet and so modest that he didn’t tell any of us.”
Aside from Ronn, the Disney cartoon is apparently filled with many B&B references, which Lesli learned was due to the director’s love of the show. According to Leslie, after the movie she ran in to a man who said, “Hi, I’m the director of the movie and I have to tell you I’m a huge fan of The Bold and the Beautiful.” He went on to gush, “To have a Bold and the Beautiful person here is really incredible.”
Lesli was of course flattered, but more than that, “It made me look really cool in front of my eight year old.”
When we did get around to discussing B&B, Lesli had nothing but positive things to say. In regards to her lack of airtime, she shared, “Everyone is upset but me because I’ve had a lot of time with my kids this year. But yes, I’ve had absolutely nothing do on screen. That’s not a secret, but I’m still there and I love the people I work with.”
Even though people such as her mother and her fans are upset that she isn’t onscreen more, Lesli believes that executive producer and head writer Brad Bell always has a plan. “I just think stuff will come for Felicia and when it does, it will be great. [Brad] has said, he doesn’t want to force anything and he doesn’t want to give me the wrong thing because he feels like he’s done that before. So, I think he’s really waiting for something terrific and I’m willing to wait,” she stated.
Echoing the sentiment Winsor Harmon shared with Soap Opera Fan Blog a few weeks ago, Lesli is happy to sit tight until her next juicy storyline because B&B is such a great place to work. “I was told when I joined the show it was the best-kept secret and it truthfully is. When I was on “As the World Turns” and General Hospital I never heard anything about The Bold and the Beautiful. I watched it when I was on “As the World Turns” because we always had CBS on, but I never heard anything about the cast or anything, and boy, is it a well-kept secret. It is the best tightest knit group of people I’ve ever known and I think it stems from the top,” she explained. “I didn’t feel one bit of back stiffening when I came on. It’s just everyone is there for you and everyone is supportive and everyone is happy when you have something to do. I mean I have John McCook (Eric) coming up and going, ‘Why isn’t Lesli doing anything?’ He’s upset along with my mother and the fans. It’s a really good group.”
Extending their bond beyond the B&B walls, Lesli shared, “We have a cast dinner every six months put together by John and Susan (Flannery; Stephanie) and no significant others and no crew or producers, just the cast. And old cast, Jennifer Finnegan (ex-Bridget) comes and Maeve Quinlan (ex-Megan) comes. New cast, old cast, whatever. We’re all there and it’s such a fun time. You can never leave this place unless they drop kick you out the door,” Lesli laughed.
As for the future of her character, Lesli pondered, “I would love to see Felicia or Thorne in such a predicament that they really have to work a lot together because I think people can really relate a lot to brother/sister or sister/sister sibling stories. I think they are really good and I would love to work with him more, but you never know.”
For now, Lesli is content to have Felicia show up for big events where she inevitably ends up being paired off with Thorne. “It’s too bad we’re brother and sister because we would most likely be great love interests on camera. It’s the biggest joke on the show. Often Winsor and I are in the family scenes and we’re always standing together. Where he is, I am and vice versa,” she quipped. “It’s pretty funny because we just want to do a whole take of us making out and put it on the gag reel. It is hilarious, even at family functions we’re like dancing together.”
In between her sporadic appearances on the show, Lesli enjoys watching her onscreen parents work their magic. “There’s nothing better than those scenes between McCook and Flannery. I could watch those scenes all day long. They’re as good as any film I’ve ever seen. They’re just so good together, those two,” she praised.
Warning! If you don’t like spoilers, stop reading!
She also shed some light on one particular episode that blew her away. “There’s some scenes that one of our new writers wrote and it’s straight out of a film. The kids are all around and [Eric and Stephanie are] telling us they’re breaking up, that they’re done again, but it’s done in such a way and they do something during it, and it’s intercut with them saying things to each other. It’s just brilliant and they were so good and when you see it, you’ll love it,” Lesli promised.
Until those scenes air, you can expect to see Felicia at Brooke and Ridge’s rehearsal dinner, dancing with Thorne of course and apparently even Nick! But don’t feel bad for the actress when you don’t see her onscreen, because as she stated, “I can truthfully say my time will come and then they’ll be sick of me.”
