Soon time for the annual Eurovision Song Contest, this year from Belgrade, Serbia who won last year. Anyone remember the song?! The dates to remember; May 20th: Semifinal 1 May 22nd: Semifinal 2 May 24th: Final Once again time to say; How on earth is Europe voting? How the heck can anyone give that song any vote? This just sucks! East Europe should just have their own contest away from the rest part. Cancel this whole thing, it´s a joke! There were only 3 good songs for gods sake! People have no taste at all. ;D ;D ;D www.eurovision.tv/

People have no taste at all. ;D ;D ;D www.eurovision.tv/YAY...the big joke of a question...the Contest...I think it is still held (and Germany still participates), because the national tv networks pump atrocious amounts of money (especially the Germans....which means...there go my idiotic fees...no I realize why the program is so bad) into this contest. If they stopped, they'd have to explain where all the money went... It has very little to do with the songs, I guess....on one hand its highly political...I think, there are always the most points from Germany going to Israel and to Turkey (the latter being due to the now audience vote) On the other hand...remember when those Finnish rockers won? Nobody could believe it, but in the end it was a lesson in grassroots politics...which made it amusing. It's antiquated and rarely funny anymore...there have been incredibly good songs over the years and even incredibly talented singers - ABBA, Johnny Logan, Celine Dion, just to name a few - but those times are long gone.

The finnish rockers (Lordi) was worthy the win. I liked them, and finally hardrock got a rightful place in the contest.
Mostly I am just amused by many of the songs and artists. Some are sooo bad I just feel embarrassed. But then there are a handful of songs I kind of like. It´s that reason why I watch, also to see how Sweden does.
Most of the time I think Sweden has the best songs. I don´t know why but I think it´s because I understand this kind of music better. For the life of me I can´t understand how Sweden ended up so poorly last year with The Ark. I really like that song and the band. But maybe others just didn´t understand? That could be a reason why countries vote so much for their neighbour countries. Because the types of music differs a lot from country to country. East Europe has their style, south Europe has their style, central Europe their...
But I like the idea of Europe coming together to share music, styles and just to have a big party together.

I think that Sweden is one of the few western european countries that still care about this contest ;D We would f e never send a turkey to compete for us Johnny Logan and Linda Martin must be crying into their lagers ;D But we Swedes still care about the songs we're sending to compete and all the best artist compete in the HUGE qualifying competition.... That's why we're always soooo disappointed when the eastern european countries only vote for each other and not for US ;D ;D ;D ;D btw Cecilia ;D You forgot the question "What the HELL is he/she wearing" ;D ;D ;D ;D

I've always loved to watch the contest but it hasn't been the same for years. It isn't even about the songs anymore...it's about politics. Congrats to Russia, even though I didn't like the song. Heck, I didn't like Finland's entry either.
