THE END OF AN ERA
It´s over, it is over .The love story between my alltime favourite couple has come to an end.For me,it ended last week when Eric was forced to leave the love of his life when she was dying.The most stupid thing on the show ever.I will never ever be okey with Eric not being the one by her side when she passed.Stupid stupid writing and such a let down for us fans who has kept this show on the air for this long.
So how did Eric and Stephanie come into my life ? The year was 1988 and l was watching something on tv,it was time for commercials and as l hate commercials, l changed channel,and there he was,the very handsome Mr Eric Forrester,it was love at first sight for me.l got hooked right away and started watching the show on a daily basis.Shortly after l got to meet his drop-dead gorgeous wife Mrs Stephanie Forrester, and right away l felt, l want those two together and in love. That feeling has never changed for me during all these years. But the biggest part of it was of course the super talented actress Susan Flannery and her wonderful co-star John McCook. Their onscreen chemistry was there from the start.
Their marriage was very tense and not happy at all from the beginning, but it has been so fantastic to see how much their love has grown over the years. Who would have thought that in the early years. Eric has been the only man Stephanie has ever loved, and even though Eric has left her, and left me furious and ready to kill him, there was never any doubt that he was always in love with her too. Remember when he was newly wed to Brooke, and Stephanie went missing. All he could think about was, where is Stephanie? Brooke got jealous and l got happy.
When he was married to Sheila, who did he spend a lot of time with when his wife was in Genoa city, yes the woman he really loved, his Stephanie. And don´t we all remember the disgusting paring with Donna ,but on their wedding night, he turned and looked at a pic Stephanie and their family.Even when the minister asked him if he would marry Donna,he turned around and looked at Stephanie,go figure who he has always loved. Eric was never able to get her out of his system, because he was always in love with her.
Eric and Stephanie has been apart and together, so many times and to talk about favourite scenes would take to long ,but some of you know that my favourite scenes were the hospital wedding in 1999.l could name so many others but this one expressed their deep love and commitment in such a wonderful way, and those scenes felt like for real.
The fact that Susan and John has been on the show all this time and not left and then got recast, and the fact that it was always Eric and Stephanie is what has kept me watching all this time.
A big thank you to Bell Sr is in order here,Susan was the first actor he cast and then John,he really wanted those two.John thought it was a big plus that Bell had Susan on the show,and he was so right.She has truly been the star of the show and she has brought out the best in John too.
Now that Susan has left and there is no more Eric and Stephanie ever, well it feels empty and l have not yet really grasped what has happened. Only time can get me to understand that she will no longer be at the mansion with Eric, sipping martinis or being at FC with him.
Just like John l will ask myself – where the f++k is Susan ?
I started by saying their love story has come to an end, but for sure a love like this never ends. They will forever live in our hearts and in our pc´s. All the clips we have is just one click away and we can relive it all. Sure it will never be the same, waiting for new spoilers, guessing what till happen next, speculating about it, getting mad when things we waited for only happened off screen, if at all. Being super crazy with joy when wonderful things happened on screen for STIC.But it is nothing we can change,because if we could have,we would have.
I am so greatful for all the wonderful scenes Eric and Stephanie have had over the years.Sure l have asked time and time again for more bedroom scenes,but for some reason Bell didn´t go there.l am also very greatful for all of you crazy STIC girls who l have had so much fun with over the years.From the bottom of my heart,thank you all !! It has been such a pleasure.
I hope this board will not fade away,now that Stephanie is gone.l hope we can still meet here to look at old clips,laugh,and have fun.
And this post wouldn´t be complete without a big thank you to Susan and John, you two have been an absolute joy to watch,and in your last scenes ever, we could tell it was so hard to leave each other, having been such a huge part of each others lives for 25+ years. Cast and crew cried and so did l.
I hope Susan gets a very well deserved Emmy for her scenes in this last sl, heck she deserves an Emmy all the time. I would love it if John could get one too for his great acting in this the last sl with Susan.
