Love this clip from 1991 when Eric admits to Stephanie that he never wanted a traditional wife, because if he did, he would have ended up married to Beth Logan.
Also, he admits he loved her and might have married her even if she wasn't pregnant.

So it's not any "recent rewrite" that some B&B viewers claim. This scene took place 22 years ago.
