Hi everyone!  Since we're having quite a few nationalities on this board right now...Italian, German, Swedish, Slovak, Danish, Polish, American to mention a few... I thought I would start a thread where we can post our favourite traditional song in our native language! Think National Song Treasure! This is a love song by Evert Taube written in 1948 and I think it's one of the most beautiful songs in the Swedish National Song Treasure (as I so eloquently put it ;D ). Two versions ;D Male and female singer! Lovely thread Cathy  :-*love your choise of song  brought tears to my eyes,as it always does when I hear this song.Lill is my absolute fav version of this song this is not an old song but it´s so beautiful that I can´t help but share it There is silence around me in this peaceful winter night. Okay guys, so here is the first song where the words, I think, are known by everyone here in Slovakia... young or old... at least my grandma, my mommy and me do know them...
The singer is quite legendary as well...
I tried to translate....
CHERRIES (Hana Hegerová, singer/ Jaro Filip, music/ Milan Lasica, lyrics)
As a young girl, a long time ago that is, I was climbing the trees with our boys,
