Who's the boss?
A secret document gives Stephanie Forrester the power to be the sole owner of the fashion empire, Forrester Creations. But how did it happen? tvplus investigates.
Revenge never tasted as sweet to Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) as it does right now.
The Bold matriarch was given the reigns of the fashion house Forrester Creations quite out of the blue – she snatched it clean out of the hands of ex-husband Eric and his current wife Brooke (still Stephanie’s biggest headache!).
Only tvplus has the exclusive information about how all the drama came about – and all the drama still to come!
Goodbye
The Forrester family wrote Stephanie off last year when her biggest lie to date came to light – when she pretended to have had a heart attack.
She did it to manipulate her oldest son Ridge into re-marrying his ex-wife (and Stephanie's favourite daughter in law) Taylor.
But the truth of her fake attack came out at Nick and Bridget’s wedding and the family was stunned at her latest deceitful trick and they were quick to give her the bitter silent treatment.
Her husband Eric then sided with her biggest enemies Jackie Marone and Brooke Logan and, more recently, he even married Brooke! Stephanie, who always wanted to protect her family from unwelcome influences like Brooke, finally accepted that she had lost the war and decided to leave Los Angeles.
Betrayal
But before she could pack her bags, Massimo (Eric’s biggest headache, and father of Stephanie's oldest son Ridge) tipped her off about a document that was discovered in Eric's safe which her father John Douglas drew up.
On 7 February viewers will see how the document declares that Stephanie is the sole proprietor of Forrester Creations, and not her husband Eric Forrester.
"It is the absolute lowest level that someone could stoop to to keep this secret from Stephanie all these years," Susan told tvplus when we called her in Los Angeles.
"Can you imagine the shock and feelings of betrayal that must have run through Stephanie's mind? And this while Eric puts on this false front and makes Stephanie the scapegoat!
"This far and no further," she told us. "It's time for Stephanie to get her revenge." And that is exactly what Stephanie does when she confronts Eric about the documents and he pretends as though it's nothing.
That makes her furious. "Eric Forrester, it's time to pay," she hisses to her worried husband. He wants to keep arguing but she turns around and kicks him between the legs!
"Then she puts her plan for revenge into action. First of all she throws Eric and Brooke out of the Forrester Creations offices. Then she appoints Thorne as the new chief executive and then Taylor becomes the face of Forrester."
Reaction
For every action there is a reaction and Stephanie's new appointments are not welcomed by all.
"Ridge doesn't trust his mother’s business choices.” Massimo, Ridge’s biological father, for his part in the mini-coup, wants Stephanie to make Ridge the chief executive, but she is not prepared to do that.
And this gets Massimo on the ball to plan Stephanie’s downfall. As an opposition to Forrester Creations Ridge and Brooke start their plans for a new company.
But before the company can even get off the ground, a technicality comes to light (thanks to Massimo) that could be the start of Stephanie’s horrible downfall.
Reconciliation
After all the mutual hate and drama, what are the chances that Eric and Stephanie will ever be reconciled?
"She was very hurt, but he is still her soulmate. Maybe something dramatic will happen to open their eyes again," says Susan.
And that's exactly what is going to happen. Without giving too much away, tvplus can reveal that later this year a heartbreaking cancer storyline may just be the thing that Eric and Stephanie need to come together again.
But before that happens Stephanie is going to wield the scepter for a while longer. "You see," Susan added, "revenge has never been as sweet for Stephanie, even if it is shortlived..."
Me and my best friend Darlene
While things are looking somewhat rosy for Stephanie Forrester, things with her counterpart Sally Spectra look bleak.
The Spectra clothing line is not selling very well and there is a fair amount of unrest that will shortly mean Sally has to apply for her own job again. Unfortunately her qualifications mean she is only able of fulfilling the role of receptionist at Spectra Fashions, or as it is now known, Spectra Couture.
But even though we would love to keep seeing Sally on our screens for many years, Darlene Conley, the actress who plays the role of Sally, has passed away.
Her friend Susan Flannery pays tribute to her best friend.
A great loss
"Darlene was one of my best friends," Susan told tvplus when we asked her about the red-head diva who recently died of stomach cancer.
"We worked together for 18 and a half years." Then she keeps quiet. "Sorry, I am still very emotional about it. Her death was terrible. It is still very present . . . it was a big loss.
It still feels unreal that she isn’t here anymore. It’s difficult to recall one specific episode between us that was special as all the scenes we did together were special," she told us when we asked about her favourite episode with Darlene.
"I would say that everything we did together was wonderful. Whether we were arguing, laughing or just being together. Every scene together was unforgettable.”
What no one knows
There is silence as Susan takes time to compose herself. "Let me tell you something that very few people know," she says in a scratchy, hoarse voice.
"Ronn Moss (Ridge Forrester) held her hand as she died. They said that she could have lived for another two or three days, but Ronn could see it wasn't the case and he phoned me.
I drove to her house immediately and called the other cast members. “We were all in the room when she died. All her friends and family.” Another sigh.
"Yes, I’m going to miss my friend. A lot."
